Job Description: Seeking a GIS Technical Specialist Expert to deliver advanced Esri-based solutions for real-time operations. You'll translate complex operational needs into robust GIS applications, dashboards, and data layers, supporting routing, signal operations, incident management, and STOC workflows. Expected to lead junior staff, manage competing priorities, and collaborate with multiple ops teams in a fast-paced environment. Ability to quickly learn operational processes, communicate with non-GIS staff, and produce on-the-fly mapping during emergencies is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee Junior Specialist; triage projects and delegate tasks efficiently.
- Attend STOC/TM&S meetings to observe workflows and identify GIS opportunities for real-time support.
- Gather requirements, translate operational challenges into GIS tasks, and develop dashboards, maps, and tools.
- Develop and maintain web mapping apps, hosted services, and data layers; ensure usability and alignment with standards.
- Provide guidance, troubleshoot issues, and maintain strong liaison between GIS Unit and operations teams.
Required/Desired Technical Skills:
- ArcGIS Pro: 5+ years
- ArcGIS Online Administration, Web Mapping, Cartography: 5+ years
- ArcGIS Enterprise Administration & Server Management: 4+ years (highly desired)
- Arcade & Python Scripting: 3+ years (highly desired)
- Survey123, Field Maps, Experience Builder: 7+ years (required)
- Strong communication skills to translate non-GIS requests into actionable outcomes
- Supervisory experience: 3+ years (highly desired)
- GIS for Public Safety: Nice to have
