As a Senior Android Engineer, you will design, develop, and maintain high-quality Android applications that support millions of customers across eCommerce, loyalty, and product launch experiences. You will collaborate closely with Product Managers, UI/UX designers, and Back-End teams to implement technical solutions that align with their business objectives. You will deliver complex features, optimize performance, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure overall code quality through best practices, testing, and thorough documentation. Additionally, you will contribute to architectural discussions, advocate for improvements, and share your expertise with peers to support a culture of technical excellence.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with a team of talented Android engineers!
- Design and build advanced Android applications using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
- Implement robust dependency injection patterns using Hilt.
- Ensure smooth migration from APK to AAB formats, optimizing app size, performance, and deployment workflows.
- Work closely with Mobile Management, Product Managers, UI/UX, ADA (Accessibility), and Back-End teams to execute mobile application development strategies and implement technical roadmaps aligned with our client's objectives.
- Develop and review features for ADA compliance, ensuring accessibility best practices are consistently implemented across Android applications.
- Foster the growth of developers' technical skills by offering constructive feedback through PR reviews and technical discussions.
- Provide constructive PR comments and encourage team members to do the same.
- Collaborate with other technical teams to understand integrations and advocate for improvements that benefit the mobile development team; identify and document tech debt and communicate these with mobile app leadership team.
- Actively participate in the incident management process when Android production issues arise, providing regular tactical updates to leadership and assisting in timely resolutions.
- Assist in removing blockers to help developers meet sprint commitments, proactively supporting engineers when needed.
- Responsible for technical documentation - ensure code is well documented via PR reviews, and feature documentation is available in Confluence.
- Monitor analytics reporting and ensure issues are logged and triaged.
- Contribute to a safe environment where all employees are encouraged to experiment, make mistakes and share learnings with the team.
- Stay up to date on trends from Android / Google and evangelize these with mobile team management and within the mobile development pod.
QualificationsQualifications- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 7 years hands-on experience with the Android platform.
- Minimum of 5 years hands-on Kotlin development experience.
- Experience with Jetpack Compose.
- Experience contributing to mobile accessibility (ADA) improvements.
- Experience setting up and maintaining a modern Android CI/CD pipeline.
- Hands-on experience with agile development methodologies.
Technical Skills- Kotlin, Android Studio, Jetpack Compose, Gradle, JSON, REST, 3rd party SDK's.
- Firebase, Crashlytics, Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Veracode, Airship.

BenefitsThe annual base salary range is $115,000 - $130,000. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. This role is also eligible to receive short term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Salary will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Salary is one component of the Foot Locker, Inc. total compensation package, which includes the below.
