Data Analyst – Claims & Duck Creek

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Data Analyst – Claims & Duck Creek to support data analysis, reporting, data quality, and business intelligence initiatives across P&C insurance claims operations. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of Duck Creek Claims, insurance claims processes, SQL, data analysis, and reporting.
This role will work closely with claims, IT, product, business intelligence, and data engineering teams to analyze claims data, identify trends, validate system data, and deliver actionable insights that improve claims operations and business performance.
Duck Creek Claims supports key areas of the claim’s lifecycle, including FNOL, assignment and routing, coverage verification, investigation, reserves and payments, and subrogation/recovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze claims data from Duck Creek and related insurance systems to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and opportunities for operational improvement.
- Develop and maintain SQL queries for data extraction, validation, reconciliation, and analysis.
- Work with Duck Creek Claims data, workflows, business rules, and downstream reporting environments.
- Gather business requirements from claims stakeholders and translate them into analytical and reporting requirements.
- Perform data profiling, data quality checks, reconciliation, and root-cause analysis.
- Analyze claims metrics such as claim frequency, severity, cycle time, reserves, payments, leakage, recovery, closure rates, and adjuster performance.
- Create dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI platforms.
- Validate data across Duck Creek, data warehouses, APIs, and other enterprise applications.
- Partner with business and technical teams during Duck Creek enhancements, releases, integrations, and data migrations.
- Support UAT by developing test scenarios, validating expected results, and investigating data-related defects.
- Document data definitions, mappings, transformation rules, business logic, and analytical processes.
- Identify opportunities to automate recurring reports, data validation processes, and manual analytical activities.
- Communicate analytical findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Support Agile ceremonies, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, demos, and defect triage.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in data analysis, business analysis, BI, or a related role.
- 2+ years of experience working with Duck Creek, preferably Duck Creek Claims.
- Strong understanding of P&C insurance claims processes and terminology.
- Advanced SQL skills, including complex joins, CTEs, subqueries, aggregations, and data validation.
- Experience working with insurance data warehouses, data marts, or enterprise reporting environments.
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent visualization tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience performing data reconciliation, profiling, quality analysis, and root-cause investigation.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical data and reporting requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business, Mathematics, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Duck Creek Claims, Duck Creek Insights, or related Duck Creek data capabilities.
- Experience with Duck Creek integrations, APIs, Extract Mapper, or data mapping.
- Knowledge of claims data related to FNOL, coverage, reserves, payments, investigations, subrogation, and settlements.
- Experience with cloud data platforms such as Azure, AWS, Snowflake, or Databricks.
- Familiarity with Python for data analysis or automation.
- Experience with Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, or similar Agile tools.
- Experience supporting Duck Creek implementations, upgrades, migrations, or production environments.
- Knowledge of insurance regulatory or statutory reporting is a plus.
