Job OverviewThe Digital Workplace Services (DWS) Architect will play a critical role in advancing Milestone Technologies' portfolio of offerings for our global customers. This is a
deeply technical, builder-oriented role that fuses classic digital workplace expertise with modern software engineering and agentic AI. As the digital workplace evolves toward a
Software-as-a-Service and "Service-as-Software" mindset, this individual must not only architect end-user computing environments but also design, prototype, and ship the software and AI agents that automate and transform them.
Leveraging deep technical expertise, hands-on development skills, and a consultative approach, this person will drive digital transformation initiatives, build automation and agentic workflows, optimize end-user computing environments, and ensure modern, secure, high-performing digital experiences. You will collaborate with C-level stakeholders, engineering teams, and cross-functional partners to create roadmap strategies, working prototypes, solution proposals, and transformation plans.
Key Responsibilities- Architecture & Strategy Develop target reference architectures and transformation roadmaps for digital workplace solutions spanning support services, Cloud/SaaS integrations, low-code/pro-code platforms, and agentic AI. Design software-centric solutions that treat workplace services as products - APIs, microservices, and AI agents rather than manual runbooks. Partner with senior leadership to assess current IT landscapes, identify capability gaps, and propose forward-thinking strategies aligned with customer business goals.
- Software & Agentic AI Development Design and build production-grade software components: services, integrations, and internal tooling that power the digital workplace. Architect and implement agentic AI systems - LLM-orchestrated agents, tool/function calling, RAG pipelines, and multi-agent workflows using frameworks such as MCP (Model Context Protocol), LangChain/LangGraph, or equivalent. Containerize and deploy services using Docker (and orchestration via Kubernetes where appropriate); design data layers on PostgreSQL and comparable relational/vector stores. Write, review, and maintain clean, well-tested code (Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, and/or Go) and stand up CI/CD pipelines.
- Technical Leadership & Solution Design Drive high-level and detailed solution designs covering endpoint management, automation tooling, DEX insights, and AI-driven experience layers. Conduct performance analysis and capacity planning across Windows, Mac, and mobile environments to ensure robust, cost-effective solutions. Design APIs and integration patterns (REST, webhooks, event-driven) that connect ITSM platforms, identity providers, and third-party SaaS.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement Act as a trusted advisor to executives and clients - often up to CEO level - translating complex technical and AI concepts into clear business value. Work closely with internal Sales, Service Delivery, and engineering teams and external vendors to ensure solutions meet technical and financial objectives.
- Service & Portfolio Development Contribute to new Service-as-Software offerings that embed automation, agentic AI, security, and collaboration into the digital workplace. Lead and mentor engineering teams, provide hands-on technical guidance during implementations, and champion best practices in agile delivery, ITSM/ITIL, and software quality.
- Implementation & Delivery Oversight Oversee end-to-end execution from proof-of-concept to production rollout, ensuring alignment with architecture and coding standards. Conduct root cause analyses, troubleshoot critical issues, and deliver stable, enterprise-grade solutions.
- Security & Compliance Integrate security into all aspects of the ecosystem, following ISO 27001, SOC 2, or equivalent frameworks - including secure coding practices, secrets management, and AI/LLM safety and data-governance controls. Ensure adherence to compliance and governance protocols, including identity and access management best practices.
- Continuous Improvement & Thought Leadership Stay current on emerging technologies - agentic AI, Google Cloud Platform, AI-based DEX, virtualization - and incorporate relevant innovations into offerings. Evangelize and lead workshops/training to upskill teams and foster a culture of innovation.
Required Skills & Experience- Software Development (core requirement) Proven hands-on coding ability in Python and at least one of JavaScript/TypeScript or Go, with sound software-engineering fundamentals (version control/Git, testing, CI/CD, code review). Experience with Docker and containerized deployment; familiarity with orchestration (Kubernetes). Strong database skills including PostgreSQL (schema design, query optimization) and exposure to vector databases (pgvector, Pinecone, or similar). API design and integration experience (REST, GraphQL, webhooks, event-driven architectures).
- Agentic AI & Applied ML Demonstrated experience building LLM-powered and agentic AI applications: prompt engineering, tool/function calling, RAG, and agent orchestration. Familiarity with agent frameworks and standards (MCP, LangChain/LangGraph, or equivalent) and major model providers/APIs. Understanding of AI safety, evaluation, cost/latency trade-offs, and responsible-AI governance.
- Digital Workplace & Architecture Proven ability to define and deliver complex digital workplace architectures spanning cloud, devices, applications, and security. Strong end-user computing background (Windows, Mac, Mobile), endpoint management (SCCM, Intune, Jamf), and virtualization (AVD, Citrix).
- Automation & Performance Analysis Hands-on scripting/automation (PowerShell, Python), DEX tools, and performance analyzers.
- Collaboration Platforms & Integration Google Workspace (advanced admin, APIs, scripting) or Office 365, including identity management (SSO, SCIM). Cloud identity platforms (Okta, Azure AD) and third-party app integration.
- Leadership & Stakeholder Management Experience leading cross-functional/engineering teams and driving transformation from concept to production. Excellent communication skills; able to mentor engineers, influence C-level executives, and facilitate cross-org collaboration.
- Project & Service Management Agile methodology, ITSM/ITIL, change management, and vendor/partner management. Skilled in building business cases, writing proposals, and estimating timelines and costs.
- Education & Certification Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; TOGAF or similar architecture certifications a plus. 6+ years across Digital Workplace, IT Architecture, End-User Computing, and/or software engineering, with demonstrable coding experience.
Preferred Qualifications- Cloud engineering certifications (Google Cloud Platform, Azure, or AWS) and infrastructure-as-code experience (Terraform).
- Experience shipping AI/ML or agentic products to production.
- Security frameworks (ISO 27001, SOC 2); zero-trust architecture or advanced MDM.
- Exposure to technology, retail, financial services, or regulated environments.
- Adaptability, problem-solving, and a natural inclination to build and innovate; comfortable leading workshops and presenting at all levels.
