Looker Platform Consultant

Role Overview

We are seeking a Looker Platform Expert to administer, support, and maintain production Looker environments within Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform). This role focuses on platform reliability, observability, troubleshooting, and ownership of production incidents.
This is a platform administration and operations role, rather than a Looker development position. The ideal candidate has supported enterprise Looker environments and takes ownership of keeping business-critical platforms stable and reliable.

Key Responsibilities
•    Administer and support production Looker environments within Google Cloud Platform.
•    Monitor platform health, availability, and performance, identifying and addressing operational issues.
•    Troubleshoot production issues affecting Looker and its underlying Google Cloud Platform environment.
•    Own production incidents from initial investigation through resolution, including root cause analysis and follow-up actions.
•    Maintain and improve observability to support proactive issue detection and effective troubleshooting.
•    Coordinate with platform, cloud, and data teams to resolve issues and support reliable operations.
•    Document operational procedures, troubleshooting guidance, and incident findings.

Required Qualifications
•    5+ years of experience working in Google Cloud Platform production environments.
•    Hands-on experience administering and supporting Looker.
•    Strong troubleshooting skills across cloud-based production environments.
•    Strong observability experience, including monitoring, logging, and alerting.
•    Demonstrated ownership of production incidents, including investigation, resolution, and root cause analysis.

Strongly Preferred Experience
•    Operating Looker at enterprise scale.
•    Administering and supporting Google-managed Looker instances.
•    Supporting BigQuery-backed Looker deployments.

Ideal Background
•    Experience in one or more of the following environments:
•    Google Cloud professional services.
•    A Google Cloud specialist partner.
•    An enterprise Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or platform engineering team responsible for Looker.

The strongest candidates will bring a production operations mindset, deep troubleshooting capabilities, and a clear track record of taking responsibility for platform reliability.
