Payroll Tax Regulations Research Specialist II

Profile

This position researches, identifies and interprets the payroll tax and associated tax reporting rules and regulations that are incorporated within the company’s products and services.

Responsibilities

Perform duties under general directions from the Product Research Team Lead.
Identify and interpret payroll tax regulatory information
Write detailed, plain language use cases and create corresponding mathematical worksheets, if applicable.
Use advanced features of standard internal tools (such as batch tests and incident tracking) to effectively collaborate with other groups.
Respond to time frames as dictated by SaaS service level agreements.
Interact with Customer Support, QA Support, Software Developers, Data Specialists and Business Analysts
Maintain currency and the highest level of industry wide application knowledge to support the Client products
Complete Customer research requests providing proper supporting documentation
Keep abreast of legislative updates, for assigned authorities, that affect payroll/tax regulatory compliance
Create Product update requests and maintain proper supporting documentation including authority profiles
Perform project-related activities to assure that project, departmental and corporate goals are met
Other responsibilities as assigned

Some travel may be required

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in Accounting, preferred

Other Undergraduate degree with minimum 3+ years payroll and/or payroll tax reporting experience, 2 years technical experience in product research and/or software product development OR

No degree with 10+ years payroll and/or payroll tax reporting experience, 5+ years technical experience in product and/or software product development
3+ years of recent and relevant work experience (Payroll/Tax/Research)
This position is subject to a background check

Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) a plus
Proficient in SQL/database queries and the use of Internet applications and Microsoft Office suite
Excellent communications, interpersonal and organizational skills
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to multi-task and quickly learn and effectively understand new concepts and functions
Strong results orientation, highly motivated and detail-oriented
