Position: SAP Indirect Tax Consultant
Location: Remote (With Traveling Involved)
Duration: Long Term Contract
Must have: SAP Indirect Tax, External Tax Engine, Global SAP S/4HANA Transformation and Tax Engine Integration.
Ideal Profile:
A senior SAP Tax Technology leader who combines deep knowledge of indirect tax with strong SAP S/4HANA architecture and tax engine integration expertise. This role is less focused on tax compliance operations and more focused on ensuring that SAP and the tax engine work together to deliver accurate, scalable, and compliant tax determination globally.
Position Summary:
The Indirect Tax Technology Lead is responsible for the design, implementation, and governance of indirect tax determination within SAP S/4HANA and its integration with the external tax engine (e.g., OneSource, Vertex, Avalara).
This role serves as the single point of accountability for ensuring that SAP transactional processes and master data correctly drive tax determination, reporting, and compliance outcomes. The position focuses on the interaction between S/4HANA and the tax engine rather than ownership of tax compliance operations or tax reporting.
The individual will work closely with the Indirect Tax Digital Transformation Lead (Business) , Finance, SAP Functional Teams, Master Data, and Systems Integrators to design scalable global tax solutions that support VAT, GST, Sales & Use Tax, and other indirect tax requirements.

Required Experience:
Essential:
- 12+ years SAP indirect tax experience.
- Multiple SAP implementation programs.
- Strong SAP S/4HANA experience.
- Experience with OneSource, Vertex, Avalara, or similar tax engines.
- Experience designing VAT/GST determination processes.
- Deep understanding of SAP tax integration architecture.
SAP Knowledge:
Strong functional understanding of:
- SAP FI
- SAP MM
- SAP SD
- SAP Central Finance (preferred)
- SAP Business Partner
- Tax Configuration Frameworks
Preferred Background:
- Global SAP S/4HANA transformation programs.
- FMCG, Manufacturing, Retail, or Consumer Products experience.
- Multi-country indirect tax implementations.
- OneSource Indirect Tax Determination experience.
- SAP–OneSource global template design experience.
