Industry Focus: Aerospace & Defense (A&D)
Position Overview
Versatile and highly skilled Application Consultant and Business Analyst specializing in Warehouse Management. In this role, you will bridge the gap between complex business processes and technical execution, with a specific focus on integrating Vertical Lift Modules (VLMs) and managing Third-Party Logistics (3PL) integration.
As an Application Consultant, you will configure and optimize our warehouse management systems to support automated hardware and external logistics partners. As a Business Analyst, you will collaborate directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements, map processes, and translate operational needs into technical specifications.
Due to the strict regulatory compliance associated with our defense contracts, ship and prior experience in the Aerospace & Defense (A&D) industry are mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
As an Application Consultant (VLM & 3PL Focus):
VLM Integration: Lead the technical integration and configuration of Vertical Lift Modules (VLMs) and other Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS) with the core Warehouse Management System (WMS). Optimize goods-to-person picking workflows.
3PL Integration & Management: Design, configure, and maintain electronic data interchange (EDI/API) interfaces between internal systems and external Third-Party Logistics (3PL) providers to ensure seamless inventory synchronization, shipping notifications, and receipt confirmations.
System Configuration: Perform hands-on configuration of warehouse processes, including inbound receiving, putaway strategies, slotting, picking, packing, and physical inventory.
As a Business Analyst:
Requirement Gathering: Facilitate workshops with warehouse operations, supply chain teams, and external partners to elicit, analyze, and document business requirements.
Process Mapping: Document as-is and design to-be warehouse workflows, identifying opportunities for automation, waste reduction, and efficiency gains.
Functional Specifications: Translate business requirements into detailed functional specifications, user stories, and system design documents for technical development teams.
Testing & Validation: Define test scenarios, write test scripts, and coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with business users to validate that configured solutions meet operational needs.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Industry Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in the Aerospace & Defense industry, with a solid understanding of A&D compliance (e.g., ITAR, EAR, serial/batch traceability, and government-furnished property).
Technical Expertise:
Proven experience configuring and supporting enterprise-grade Warehouse Management Systems (such as SAP EWM/WM or equivalent).
Hands-on experience integrating WMS with automated storage hardware, specifically VLMs (e.g., Kardex, Modula).
Experience designing and troubleshooting interfaces (EDI, IDocs, APIs) with 3PL providers.
Business Analysis: Strong background in business analysis, process mapping, and writing functional specifications.
Preferred Skills
Experience with SAP S/4HANA Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) and its Material Flow System (MFS) component.
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex operational challenges into structured system solutions.
Excellent communication skills, comfortable presenting to both shop-floor operators and business leadership.
