Position Overview
The Senior Gateway / Platform Engineer will support the modernization, operation, and sustainment of the Enterprise API Gateway (EAG) platform. This role is responsible for API Gateway engineering, platform upgrades, production support, infrastructure currency, API migrations, automation, and ensuring high availability across hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and maintain Enterprise API Gateway environments.
- Support API onboarding, publishing, lifecycle management, and governance.
- Perform production Operations & Maintenance (O&M), monitoring, incident response, and troubleshooting.
- Implement API Gateway platform modernization and migration from IBM webMethods to the target gateway platform.
- Configure CI/CD integrations and automate API deployment processes.
- Perform platform upgrades, certificate renewals, runtime updates, and technical refresh activities.
- Develop operational documentation, runbooks, validation reports, and rollback procedures.
- Ensure compliance with Zero Trust security principles and security standards.
- Support observability, logging, monitoring, and performance optimization.
- Participate in API migration planning, testing, and production readiness activities.
Required Qualifications
- Strong experience with Enterprise API Gateway platforms.
- Experience supporting API lifecycle management and API onboarding.
- Experience with REST APIs, API security, OAuth, JWT, SSL/TLS, and certificate management.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps integration.
- Knowledge of Kubernetes/OpenShift or containerized environments.
- Experience supporting production environments with 24x7 operational responsibilities.
- Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
- Experience with monitoring tools, logging platforms, and ServiceNow.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with IBM webMethods API Gateway.
- Experience with Kong API Gateway.
- Knowledge of OpenTelemetry, AppDynamics, and API observability.
- Experience with hybrid cloud environments.
- Federal/IRS experience.
