Job Title: Sr. Project Manager with Storage and Infrastructure Exp
Location: Remote (CST or PST)
Duration: 6+ Months Contract
PROJECT OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of enterprise storage projects built on client technology. You will manage engagements from kickoff through handoff: new array deployments, data migrations, Evergreen upgrades and expansions, and data protection and cyber-resilience initiatives. You will work with Professional and Advanced Services engineers, customer stakeholders, and partner teams to keep projects on scope, on schedule, and on budget.
You don’t need to be a storage engineer, but you should be technical enough to understand how storage architectures, migrations, and cutovers work, and to hold credible conversations with engineers and customer infrastructure teams.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
- Own the full project lifecycle: initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout
- Build and maintain project plans, schedules, RAID logs (risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies), and status reports
- Coordinate delivery of Everpure FlashArray, FlashBlade, and related platform deployments, including install, configuration, and validation
- Plan and manage data migrations from legacy storage platforms to Everpure arrays, including cutover windows and rollback planning
- Manage Evergreen subscription-related activities such as controller upgrades, capacity expansions, and refresh cycles
Stakeholder and Customer Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customer project sponsors, infrastructure leads, and application owners
- Run kickoff meetings, weekly status calls, steering committees, and executive readouts
- Translate technical details into clear business updates for non-technical stakeholders
- Manage scope, change requests, and expectations to protect delivery quality and margin
Resource and Vendor Coordination
- Schedule and coordinate engineers, architects, and field resources across concurrent projects
- Work with Everpure Professional and Advanced Services, partner teams, and third-party vendors on staffing, handoffs, and escalations
- Track hours, forecast utilization, and report on budget versus actuals
Governance and Quality
- Apply consistent delivery methodology, templates, and documentation standards
- Verify acceptance criteria, as-built documentation, and knowledge transfer are complete before closeout
- Capture lessons learned and contribute to improving repeatable delivery playbooks
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of IT project management experience, including 3+ years on infrastructure or storage projects
- Working knowledge of enterprise storage concepts: block, file, and object storage, SAN/NAS, replication, snapshots, RAID and data reduction, performance and capacity planning
- Experience managing data center migrations or storage refresh projects
- Strong command of project management frameworks (PMI/PMBOK, Agile, or hybrid)
- Proficiency with project tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, or similar, and with Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with executive-level presentation skills
- Experience managing budgets, change control, and statements of work (SOWs)
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP, PgMP, or equivalent certification
- Direct experience delivering Pure Storage / Everpure FlashArray, FlashBlade, or Portworx projects
- Everpure/Pure certifications or the ability to earn one within 90 days (e.g., Pure Storage Certified Associate)
- Familiarity with VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, Kubernetes and containers, Oracle/SQL workloads, and backup and recovery tools (Veeam, Commvault, Rubrik)
- Understanding of cyber-resilience concepts such as immutable snapshots, ransomware recovery, and disaster recovery planning
- Experience in a professional services, partner, or consulting delivery model
- Experience supporting multiple concurrent projects in a global or multi-time-zone environment
Core Competencies
- Technical fluency in storage and infrastructure
- Clear, proactive communication under pressure
- Risk anticipation and structured problem solving
- Customer-first mindset with strong commercial awareness
- Ownership and accountability for outcomes
Working Location/Expectations
- Remote
- Working same time zone as the account team/internal team
