About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP/FTTH) and broadband network expansion initiatives for our telecom clients. This role owns end-to-end delivery of fiber layout, permitting, construction, and activation workstreams coordinating across engineering, GIS, field operations, and client stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience managing large-scale fiber build programs and is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, multi-vendor delivery environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Own project planning, scheduling, and execution for fiber network build-out initiatives across multiple market areas (MAs) or serving areas.
- Manage the full fiber lifecycle: design/engineering, permitting, make-ready, construction (aerial/underground), splicing, and service activation.
- Coordinate with GIS and network design teams using platforms such as IQGeo Network Manager, Comsof Fiber, and SiteTracker to track design-to-construction workflows.
- Track project status, risks, and dependencies; escalate blockers proactively.
- Manage relationships with construction contractors, locate vendors, splicing crews, and permitting authorities/municipalities.
- Own the project schedule, budget, and resourcing plan; report progress against milestones using tools like MS Project, Smartsheet, or Power BI dashboards.
- Facilitate governance cadences weekly status calls, steering committee updates, RAID log reviews with internal and client stakeholders.
- Manage change requests, scope adjustments, and commercial impacts in coordination with the account/delivery lead.
- Drive risk mitigation for common fiber deployment blockers: permitting delays, right-of-way issues, make-ready backlogs, material/supply chain constraints, and workforce availability.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, utility locate (811/Call Before You Dig), and municipal construction standards.
- Support pre-sales/proposal efforts by providing SME input on scheduling, staffing models, and delivery approach for new fiber pursuits.
- Manage onshore/offshore blended delivery teams, including coordination with GIS/design teams based offshore.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of project management experience, with 5+ years specifically in telecom/fiber network deployment(FTTP, FTTH, FTTx, or broadband infrastructure).
- Proven track record managing fiber construction lifecycle: design, permitting, make-ready, construction, splicing, and turn-up.
- Familiarity with fiber network architectures (GPON, XGS-PON) and OSS/BSS integration touchpoints.
- Strong understanding of construction methods (aerial, underground/directional boring), permitting processes, and utility coordination.
- Experience managing multi-vendor, multi-region programs, including offshore/onshore delivery models.
- PMP, CAPM, or equivalent project management certification preferred.
- Proficiency with project management and reporting tools (MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Power BI, or similar).
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and executive reporting skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Telecommunications, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Preferred Qualifications
- Background working with Tier 1/Tier 2 telecom or fiber ISPs (e.g., regional fiber broadband providers).
- Exposure to managed services or system integrator delivery models.
