Description Database Administrator IIILocation: Remote, Based out of Alpharetta, GADuration: Through 6-month contract, extensions likelyWe are looking for an experienced Database Administrator III to support database operations, complete database projects, and provide technical administration across production and development environments. The role requires deep MySQL production replication experience, cloud database knowledge, and a DevOps-focused approach to database stability, reliability, performance, and automation.
Responsibilities:
- Support MySQL database management systems and related software
- Design and build database environments
- Develop estimates and schedules for new projects and system extensions
- Provide database administration across development and production environments
- Support MySQL production replication
- Improve database stability, reliability, security, and performance
- Expand database monitoring and observability capabilities
- Automate database administration and operational processes
- Support critical database issues during evenings or weekends as part of an on-call rotation
- Manage multiple assignments and additional responsibilities
Requirements - 5+ years of MySQL Database Administration (DBA) experience.
- Experience managing production and development database environments across the full lifecycle.
- 2+ years of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD experience using Terraform, Terragrunt, and GitHub Actions.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
- MySQL administration, replication, performance tuning, security, patching, and upgrades.
- High availability, multi-region replication, disaster recovery, and backup/recovery (Percona XtraBackup, snapshots).
- Production database operations and support in cloud environments.
- AWS RDS and/or Azure Database for MySQL Flexible Server.
- Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, automation, and process improvement.
- Monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana, ELK, Datadog, or Splunk.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications- Azure cloud experience.
- Experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Azure Cosmos DB, or SQL Server.
- Automation/scripting with Bash, Ansible, or Python.
