RAN Wireless SME - Contract | Plano, TX (Onsite) Join a leading global technology company in Plano, TX as a RAN Wireless SME on a contract opportunity focused on advanced 4G/5G wireless, Radio Access Network (RAN), call processing, and virtualized network technologies. You'll work closely with carrier customers HQ, sales teams, engineering groups, and cross-functional organizations to deliver next-generation wireless solutions.
This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned wireless expert who wants to operate at the intersection of deep technical engineering, customer engagement, and next-generation 5G innovation. The ideal candidate will bring 12+ years of wireless industry experience and have the technical credibility to influence customer leadership, troubleshoot complex 4G/5G issues, support product launches, and shape system requirements. You'll gain exposure to cutting-edge RAN technologies, customer network deployments, chipset IODT testing, and newest wireless products while working across both technical and business teams.
Contract Duration: 6 - 12 Months Required Skills & Experience - 12+ years of industry experience in wireless communications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- Strong knowledge of 4G/5G air interface, call processing, RAN architecture, and wireless network technologies
- Strong understanding of PHY, MAC, RLC, RRC, and PDCP layers
- Experience with 4G/5G wireless call protocols, analysis, troubleshooting, and performance optimization
- Strong understanding of 3GPP systems, including Core and RAN networks
- Experience with system engineering activities, including:
- Feature and system requirements
- Feature documentation
- Parameter optimization
- Performance analysis
- Test strategy development
- Problem troubleshooting
- Experience with wireless test and troubleshooting tools such as XCAL, QXDM, Wireshark, and channel emulators
- Understanding of both hardware and software architecture
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to customers, engineering teams, management, and business stakeholders
- Strong customer-facing, presentation, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
Desired Skills & Experience - Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline
- Experience with 3GPP Release 15/16 activities
- Strong understanding of Hybrid Beamforming and Massive MIMO
- Knowledge of 5G New Waveforms and Numerologies
- Experience with LTE-NR interworking and coexistence
- Software development experience
- Experience supporting chipset IODT testing in laboratory and field environments
- Experience with new technology introduction and virtualized networks
- Experience supporting wireless product launches, field trials, and customer deployments
