The Staff Release Engineer works under limited supervision and will perform cloud enablement & support activities commensurate with their experience that ensure cloud infrastructure implementations meet defined quality standards.
Essential Job Functions:- Implement and support cloud infrastructure capabilities across AWS environments.
- Partner with Architecture, Security, IAM, Platform Engineering, and application teams to implement cloud solutions, troubleshoot issues, automate operational processes, and ensure consistent adherence to enterprise standards.
- Troubleshoot release deployment issues related to cloud infrastructure.
- Experience supporting AWS cloud enablement and operational activities, including working with a formal Software Configuration / Release Management environment, utilizing an application release automation product, and using Ticketing system software.
- Experience with Python scripting with the ability to develop, maintain, and troubleshoot automation, data processing, and cloud operations workflows.
- Lead / Co-lead internal project/program level process improvement initiatives. Provide feedback on processes by offering suggestions.
- Informally mentor more junior staff.
- Assist with adherence to technology policies and comply with all security controls.
- Ensure all work products meets /exceeds FINRA standards.
- Demonstration of FINRA's values.
- Collaboration, both in-person and virtually, in furtherance of FINRA's mission of investor protection and market integrity.
Education/Experience Requirements:- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline with at least three (3) years of related experience, or equivalent training and / or work experience.
- Past experience with release engineering activities including working with a formal Software Configuration / Release Management environment managing software configurations and releases, utilizing an application release automation product, and using Ticketing system software.
- Past experience managing complex releases with strong knowledge of change, problem / incident, and delivery management in a 24x7 production environment.
- Working knowledge of operating systems, development languages and products, and networking.
- Strong written and verbal technical communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships that improved the quality of work products.
- Should be well organized, thorough, and able to handle competing priorities.
- Ability to maintain focus and develop proficiency in new skills rapidly.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
Work Conditions:- Hybrid work environment, with defined in-person presence requirements.
- Occasional travel and extended hours may be required.
- Weekend and On-call duties (on a rotational basis) may be required.
