Job DetailsJob Details:
We are searching for a dedicated and experienced Construction Estimator to join our dynamic team. As a Construction Estimator, your main responsibility will be to estimate work of considerable financial or business risk, from small to large projects. You will be responsible for determining the cost of utilities and construction as well as forecasting the expenses related to personal and material resources. You will also take part in the preparation of economic feasibility studies on changes and adjustments to cost estimates, manage bid pricing from all vendors, and coordinate the timely, systematic, and complete acquisition of scope definition and related data.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for products, projects, or services, applying knowledge of specialized methodologies, techniques, principles, or processes.
- Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors.
- Review material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components.
- Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project.
- Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
- Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
- Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost reduction.
- Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
- Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
Qualifications:
- 5-7+ years of experience and knowledge of general construction contractor estimating.
- Government Contracting preferred.
- Proven experience with construction estimating, means & methods, accounting, document organization, and ability to read/understand all types of construction drawings and documents.
- Ability to do quantity take-offs is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, with a willingness to pick up the phone and talk to subcontractors, foster relationships.
- Some periodic travel for site visits may be required.
- Must be able to obtain DBIDS.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with a high level of accuracy in calculations and attention to detail.
- Proficient with MS Office Word, Excel. Experience with estimating software is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field is preferred.
