Mid-Level Cloud Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled, data-focused Mid-Level Cloud Engineer for a contract engagement supporting a major initiative in the retail/e-commerce sector. In this role, you will architect, optimize, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure while focusing heavily on data warehouse transformation and the deployment of Large Language Models (LLMs).

The ideal candidate bridges the gap between core cloud infrastructure, advanced data engineering, and modern AI/ML workflows within a fast-paced retail context.

Key Responsibilities

• Cloud Infrastructure & Automation: Design, provision, and manage secure, scalable, and highly available AWS environments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles (Terraform or CloudFormation).
• Data Warehouse Transformation: Build, migrate, and optimize enterprise-grade data warehouses and modern data lakehouses to support massive retail datasets, ensuring seamless ETL/ELT pipelines and real-time processing.
• LLM & AI/ML Pipelines: Collaborate with data science teams to build, fine-tune, deploy, and scale Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI applications within production AWS environments (utilizing services like Amazon SageMaker, Bedrock, or integrated partner platforms).
• Industry Domain Application: Apply custom cloud solutions tailored specifically to retail and e-commerce challenges, including inventory optimization, personalization engines, and transactional data streams.
• Collaboration & Integration: Work closely with cross-functional technical teams, aligning cloud engineering workflows with Sesheng LLC’s broader partner ecosystem solutions.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Industry Experience (Mandatory): Proven track record of working within the Retail or E-commerce sector, displaying a strong understanding of high-volume digital commerce architectures and customer data patterns.
• AWS Expertise: Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience engineering and administering production AWS environments. Relevant AWS Certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, AWS DevOps Engineer, or AWS Data Engineer) are highly valued.
• Advanced Data Engineering: Deep, demonstrable experience with data warehouse transformation, data modeling, lakehouse architectures, and big data technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, or Databricks).
• AI/ML & LLMs (Mandatory): Practical experience building, deploying, or fine-tuning LLMs and integrating Generative AI components into broader application architectures.
• Education: A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a highly related technical discipline is strongly desired.

Work Environment

• This is a contract position located in Waltham, MA.
• The role follows a hybrid work schedule, requiring a blend of remote autonomy and regular on-site collaboration at our Waltham-area project location.
