OverviewJob SummaryGalapagos Federal Systems, LLC is seeking an enthusiastic and highly qualified Environmental Support Specialist to join our team at Royal Air Force Mildenhall, United Kingdom. This position supports the 100th Civil Engineer Squadron and offers the opportunity to work alongside a diverse team of professionals supporting critical installation and infrastructure initiatives.
The Environmental Support Specialist will provide environmental planning, compliance, and technical support for Military Construction (MILCON) and Facilities Sustainment, Restoration, and Modernization (FSRM) projects. Responsibilities include supporting AF Form 813 workflows, Environmental Impact Analysis Process (EIAP) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) reviews, environmental design integration, regulatory comment resolution, mitigation tracking, and coordination with U.S. and United Kingdom stakeholders.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Environmental Support Specialist will:
- Prepare and coordinate draft AF Form 813 documentation and supporting environmental impact analysis packages for Government review and approval
- Review project designs, engineering drawings, specifications, and scopes of work to identify environmental impacts, regulatory requirements, and site-specific constraints
- Develop recommendations to avoid, minimize, or mitigate environmental impacts and project risks throughout the project life cycle
- Track environmental comments, action items, permit requirements, and mitigation measures from project planning through design, construction, and closeout
- Support the Government in verifying that environmental comments and compliance requirements are resolved before projects advance to subsequent design phases
- Coordinate with U.S. Government personnel, United Kingdom regulatory agencies, engineers, planners, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure environmental compliance and project alignment
- Maintain Environmental Impact Analysis Process (EIAP) administrative records, project documentation, environmental reports, and audit-ready files in accordance with applicable regulations and program requirements
- Provide technical support for environmental planning and compliance activities associated with Military Construction (MILCON) and Facilities Sustainment, Restoration, and Modernization (FSRM) projects
RequirementsSkills and ExperienceThe Environmental Support Specialist must have:
- 4+ years of professional experience supporting environmental planning, environmental compliance, or environmental project management
- Demonstrated experience supporting the Environmental Impact Analysis Process (EIAP), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), or comparable environmental compliance programs
- Experience reviewing engineering drawings, technical specifications, project scopes, and design documents to identify environmental impacts, regulatory requirements, and site constraints
- Working knowledge of Department of Defense (DoD) and U.S. Air Force (USAF) environmental policies, including DAFI 32-1015, overseas environmental compliance requirements, and applicable United Kingdom environmental regulations
- Knowledge of environmental planning principles, UK planning processes, environmental impact assessment methodologies, and natural and cultural resource management
- Experience managing environmental documentation, regulatory comments, action-item tracking, mitigation measures, and project records throughout the project life cycle
- Familiarity with eDASH, AF Form 813 workflows, or similar Government environmental management systems
- Ability to work full-time on-site at Royal Air Force Mildenhall, United Kingdom
- Ability to obtain and maintain required installation access, Common Access Card (CAC), NIPRNet access, and other applicable credentials
Education and CertificationsThe Environmental Support Specialist must meet the following:
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Planning, Natural Resources, or a related field
- Project Management Professional, PRINCE2, a relevant UK-equivalent project-management credential, and/or an environmental certification
- Additional training or credentials in EIAP/NEPA, UK EIA, environmental compliance, or environmental management

Security Clearance A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is/may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.
Physical RequirementsWork may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner, and that may include lifting up to thirty pounds, as necessary.
