Role Overview
This position requires leading advanced Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) efforts to create, maintain, and extend digital reference architectures across various domains. The role involves developing strategies to champion the adoption of SysML V2 and KerML, integrating attribute-based access control (ABAC) into models, and guiding zero trust architectures. This is a policy-driven position where technical expertise will be used to help drive new policy across government agencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and deliver federated digital system models using MBSE tools such as Innoslate or Cameo.
- Provide systems architecture leadership and subject matter expert-level advising to senior leadership.
- Advance policies and frameworks for data, identity, and zero trust architectures.
- Drive the adoption of SysML v2 and/or KerML and test implementations within modern MBSE tools.
- Integrate Attribute-Based Access Control (ABAC) into digital architectures and models.
- Oversee the creation of federated digital models across complex systems in multi-domain, multi-classification environments.
- Conduct research, verification, validation, and interoperability testing to optimize mission performance.
- Prepare and deliver briefs, reports, and leadership updates, and organize workshops.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience:- PhD in a related field (e.g., Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Applied Math, Cybersecurity) and 20+ years of related experience.
- Alternatively, a Master's degree and 24 years of experience, a Bachelor's degree and 26 years of experience, or 28 years of experience with no degree. A candidate with a Master's degree and 12 years of experience may be considered.
Technical Skills & Expertise:- Recognized subject-matter expertise in systems engineering, digital engineering, and complex secure architectures.
- Proven experience advising senior leadership and directing technical baselines.
- Hands-on experience with MBSE tools (e.g., Cameo, Innoslate) and creating federated digital models.
- Expertise in Zero Trust architecture design and implementation, including Identity, ICAM, and Access Management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud-native reference implementations and cross-domain solutions.
- Collaboration experience with relevant government organizations.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid role requiring three days onsite per week. The specific onsite days are flexible.
