Mainframe Operator (Level 1 Incident Manager)

Position summary
Varmoda is seeking an intermediate-level Mainframe Operator to function as a Level 1 Incident Manager for critical incidents/events relating to various IT technology. The role requires quickly creating, escalating, triaging, and tracking customer technology-related incidents while collaborating with IT staff, customers, and vendors. The position mandates a presence onsite with no work-from-home option and may require holiday, day, afternoon, and/or midnight shifts.

Key Responsibilities

• Function as a Level 1 Incident Manager for critical incidents/events relating to various IT technology.
• Quickly create, escalate, triage, and track customer technology-related incidents.
• Collaborate with IT staff, customers, and vendors to resolve and manage technology-related incidents.
• Utilize graphical monitoring systems tracking availability and status of infrastructure connectivity, assets, and services.
• Monitor mainframe control consoles.
• Periodically check system performance.
• Assist with the review/validation of mainframe job control language.
• Perform deliveries as assigned.
• Lift up to 50 pounds as required.
• Work holidays, days, afternoons, and/or midnight shifts as requested.

Required Qualifications

• Intermediate-level experience.
• In-depth knowledge and at least 5 years of experience with Microsoft Teams.
• Experience with What's Up Gold.
• Experience with Pingdom.
• Experience with PRTG.
• Experience with IBM Mainframe.
• Excellent communication skills necessary to collaborate with IT staff, customers, and vendors.
• Ability to work onsite; there is no work-from-home option.
• Ability to work required shifts, including holidays, days, afternoons, and/or midnight shifts.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience monitoring infrastructure connectivity, assets, and services using graphical monitoring systems.
• Experience with mainframe control consoles and system performance monitoring.
• Experience reviewing and validating mainframe job control language.
• Experience functioning in an incident management environment.
