Location: Woodlawn, Maryland (Remote)
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Computer Systems Engineer/Architect to serve as the senior Microsoft 365 Engineer/Architect. This role will ensure the effective and efficient management of M365 services within an enterprise-level environment. The position involves thought leadership, hands-on support, and direction of engineering staff in the day-to-day management and administration of the M365 suite of services. This position supports a federal program that requires a Public Trust level clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain Office 365 services such as Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, and OneDrive for Business to meet organizational needs.
- Handle Office 365 tenant administration tasks including user and group management, license assignment, security and compliance settings, and service health monitoring.
- Facilitate the deployment of M365 Copilot, including prerequisite setup and pilot phase management leading to broader deployment.
- Lead communication efforts regarding updates and enhancements to Office 365 services.
- Manage and oversee the implementation of Microsoft Purview to enhance data governance and compliance, including setting up Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies and sensitivity labels.
- Ensure smooth integration of Office 365 with Azure Active Directory (AAD), manage directory synchronization, and enforce multi-factor authentication (MFA).
- Implement and enforce security best practices within Office 365 environments, including data encryption and configuration of advanced security features.
- Utilize PowerShell scripting to automate administrative tasks and manage Office 365 services.
- Support developers and users in the usage of Power Platform components including Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Power Virtual Agents.
- Demonstrate expertise in Microsoft Intune for cloud-based mobile device and application management.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including methods of procedure, SOPs, and technical diagrams.
Required Qualifications
- 6 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 4 years of experience with a Master's degree.
- Expertise in Microsoft Office 365, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, and OneDrive for Business.
- Proficiency in user and group management, license assignment, security settings, and service health monitoring.
- Demonstrated experience in Identity Management, including Azure Active Directory (AAD) integration, Single Sign-On (SSO), and multi-factor authentication (MFA).
- Experience with Microsoft Defender & Purview, including security best practices, data encryption, compliance features, DLP, and eDiscovery.
- Knowledge of the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Power Virtual Agents).
- Proficiency in automation and scripting with PowerShell for Office 365 administration.
- Experience with Intune for managing and securing mobile devices and applications.
- Candidates must hold active Public Trust or higher level security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in IT or a related field.
- Microsoft 365 Certification.
