Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a
Fellow Chemical/Mechanical Design Engineer opportunity to support the
Savannah River Site.Work Location: Aiken, SC

Fellow Chemical/Mechanical Design Engineer- Duties:- Apply technical experience in field of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical fields and use other technical resources within the company to resolve complex problems.
- Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning.
- Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area(s) of technical expertise.
- Develop solutions to complex technical problems in fields of expertise.
- Keep informed on technical needs within the company and technical trends in area of expertise in the external world.
- Be aware of capabilities of the work group and needs of its customers.
- Identify technical programs which can be carried out with little guidance and take the initiative to accomplish them.
- Lead task teams to develop solutions to more complex problems.
- Prepare plans including schedules, budgets and personnel requirements for solving major technical tasks identified by management.
- Develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor expenditures of budget and review quality of work performed.
- Include research, development, testing, quality assurance requirements.
- Communicate the results and objectives verbally and in manuscript form to customers, colleagues, managers and oversight groups.
- Prepare reports for external publication.
Education/Yrs. of Experience:- An advanced degree and experience, a Ph.D. degree and about 10 years' experience OR a MS degree and 12 years' experience OR a BS degree and approximately 15 years' experience. (BS Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or current registration as a Professional Engineer in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering).
Required Skills/Experience: - A minimum of 15 years' design experience in the nuclear or process chemical industry.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience working at one or more DOE facilities.
- Must demonstrate experience creating and revising documentation in one or more of the following areas: Process Flow; Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams; System Descriptions; Mechanical Equipment Lists; Mechanical Equipment Sizing; Pipe and Valve Specifications; Failure Analysis; Accident Analysis; Finite Element Analysis; ASME Code Design and Evaluation; Pipe Stress Analysis; Material Handling Design; Fire Protection Design; HVAC Design; and Vendor Document Reviews.
- Must be able to perform weekly field walk-downs of the job site for the engineering work being performed (these walk-downs may involve construction sites with uneven surfaces and work in progress, walking for distances of over half a mile, climbing of ladders to access remote areas, and dressing out in protective clothing).
Preferred Qualifications:- Possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years.
- Previous SRS Design Engineering experience and working knowledge of SRNS design processes and procedures.
Other Job Requirements:- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" security clearance.
