Position Summary
TheSchool of Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering anticipates hiringAdjunct (Temporary, Part time) Faculty to teach and/or develop program coursesin Mechanical Engineering for the Fall 2026.
Anticipatedopenings, potentially include the following subjects: Dynamics, Vibrations,Control Systems, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Finite Element Analysis,Engineering Materials Science, Fluid Mechanics, Machine Components, EngineeringDesign, and Aerospace Systems.
MechanicalEngineering is seeking qualified temporary part time faculty members to teachin the various disciplines as specified above. Instructors are responsible forall aspects of courses taught to include: meeting with class during assignedtimes, content delivery, assignment development, grading assignments, reportingof grades, and assessment of student learning as outlined by the DepartmentChair.
Positionsare contingent upon need each semester as determined by student enrollmentlevels, current course offering matrix, and demand driven by graduationrequirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up todeadline for students to drop or add courses. Candidates who are selected forthese positions will report to the Department Chair.
Applicantswho are appointed to a UNM continuing faculty position are required to providean official certification of success completion of all degree requirementsprior to their initial employment with UNM.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: The minimum qualifications must be consistent with Higher Learning Commission standards and compliant with the faculty hiring guidelines.
- MS in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field
Preferred Qualifications:- Demonstrated expertise in one or more areas listed in the position summary
- Online teaching experience
- A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities
