Job Summary
We are seeking an Aircraft Performance Engineer I for a contract opportunity in Atlanta, GA, supporting flight operations engineering within the aerospace and defense industry. This role is ideal for an analytical engineering professional who enjoys working with aircraft performance data, airport and runway information, technical documentation, and safety-focused operational systems.
In this on-site role, you will help maintain accurate aircraft performance definitions, support operational system integrity, and collaborate with flight operations, IT, and commercial stakeholders. The environment is highly technical, team-oriented, and focused on safety, compliance, and operational excellence. Candidates can expect exposure to real-world aviation operations, supportive cross-functional collaboration, and the opportunity to build valuable experience in aircraft performance engineering near a major aviation hub.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine surveillance of airports, runways, and environmental conditions to support aircraft performance definitions and operational planning.
- Update and maintain aircraft performance data within flight operational systems to help optimize aircraft capabilities and maintain system integrity.
- Generate accurate engineering documents, compliance reports, technical summaries, and standard operating procedures using technical drawings and engineering information.
- Collaborate with Flight Operations, IT, Commercial, and other business teams to provide technical data, engineering support, and aircraft deployment guidance.
- Support continuous improvement of engineering policies, procedures, workflows, and reporting processes within a regulated aviation environment.
- Apply safety-conscious engineering practices to support operational compliance, risk reduction, and reliable aircraft operations.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay rate: $30 to $35 per hour.

- Ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and reporting responsibilities simultaneously.
- Strong analytical thinking, systems-thinking ability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a safety-focused, regulated operational environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to support diverse technical and business stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Experience with aircraft performance data, airport/runway analysis, airline operations, or aviation operational systems.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to aircraft operations, performance, or safety processes.
