CTG is seeking to fill a Db2 Database Administrator - OpenShift / Db2U position for our client.
Location: Atlanta, GA
Duration: 4 months
Duties:- Administer Db2 databases, including design, build, migration, performance tuning, backup, and restore activities.
- Support Db2/Db2U environments running on OpenShift, including development support, storage management, and basic monitoring.
- Assist with data migration from existing cDB2 environments to Db2 on OpenShift.
- Design and implement database solutions within a containerized environment.
- Work closely with platform, application, and infrastructure teams to support database deployments and modernization initiatives.
- Configure and manage scheduled database jobs and maintenance activities using CRON, ESP, or similar enterprise scheduling tools.
- Troubleshoot database performance, availability, and stability issues across both database and OpenShift platform environments.
- Support backup, recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery processes.
- Document database configurations, procedures, migration activities, and operational processes.
- Preferred: Configure and support IBM Q Replication (QREP) for Db2 environments.
Skills:- Strong Db2 database administration skills with experience in Db2 z/OS and/or Db2 LUW.
- Hands-on experience with Db2/Db2U on OpenShift or Kubernetes.
- Strong SQL skills and database performance tuning expertise.
- Experience with database backup, restore, recovery, and troubleshooting.
- Practical experience with CRON, ESP, or similar enterprise job scheduling technologies.
- Understanding of containerized database environments and OpenShift concepts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and technical documentation skills.
- Nice to have: IBM Q Replication (QREP) experience.
- Nice to have: Experience supporting large-scale database migration or modernization projects.
Experience:- 7+ years of experience as a Db2 Database Administrator.
- Experience administering Db2 in z/OS and/or LUW environments.
- Practical experience deploying, administering, and supporting Db2/Db2U on OpenShift or Kubernetes.
- Experience performing database migrations, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and production support.
- Experience working collaboratively with application and platform engineering teams.
- Experience with enterprise scheduling tools such as CRON and ESP.
Education:- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience may be considered.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
