Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of high-quality native Android applications, ensuring scalability and robustness.
- Establish and promote best practices, code standards, and architectural guidelines across teams.
- Act as a technical authority, influencing product roadmaps and strategic technical decisions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers and designers, to deliver user-centric solutions.
- Drive innovation by evaluating new technologies and frameworks, integrating them into the development process.
- Mentor and coach junior developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
- Oversee end-to-end testing processes, including automation and CI/CD pipelines, to ensure product quality.
- Lead complex projects from inception to deployment, ensuring alignment with business goals and timelines.
- Influence organisational processes to improve team efficiency, engagement, and product delivery.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Over 10 years' experience in software development, with a minimum of 3 years focused on native Android development.
- Deep expertise in Android SDK, Java, Kotlin, and related development tools.
- Hands-on experience with modern architectural patterns such as MVVM or MVI.
- Proven track record of designing scalable, high-performance Android applications.
- Strong understanding of automated testing strategies across unit, integration, and UI levels.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and workflows, including systems like GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
- Experience working with cloud services such as Google Cloud and AWS.
- Knowledge of database management, web protocols, and API integration.
- Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Experience in iOS development, React Native, or cross-platform frameworks.
- Knowledge of device virtualisation and automated QA processes.
- Experience with GenAI tools such as Copilot or Claude Code.
- A keen eye for visual design and user experience.
