PROJECT MANAGER, ENGINEERING
Location: Carrollton, TX
Salary: $120,000/year
Travel: 15-30%, including possible international travel
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a highly capable, results-driven Engineering Project Manager to lead engineering, product development, and engineering transformation initiatives. This person will manage projects that improve engineering effectiveness, support new product development and introduction, improve PLM, and standardize engineering tools, systems, and practices.
You will work across Engineering, Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Operations, IT, and Executive Leadership. The role requires someone who can bring structure and accountability to complex projects, make informed technical decisions, resolve issues quickly, and drive initiatives from concept through implementation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Delivery & Execution
* Lead planning and execution of engineering, product development, PLM, engineering systems, and technical transformation projects.
* Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets, resources, technical deliverables, and engineering milestones.
* Manage scope, assumptions, design dependencies, engineering changes, risks, and issues.
* Coordinate Engineering, Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Operations, IT, and external technology partners.
* Drive CAD/PDM/PLM implementations, engineering process improvements, engineering data harmonization, product platform standardization, and NPD initiatives.
* Ensure projects deliver against schedule, budget, technical requirements, operational goals, and business outcomes.
* Facilitate governance, status reporting, design reviews, steering committee updates, and decision forums.
Portfolio & PMO
* Support a PMO portfolio covering engineering, product development, innovation, and technology initiatives.
* Maintain dashboards and reporting covering progress, technical risks, resource constraints, dependencies, KPIs, and project health.
* Promote consistent PM practices, engineering governance, and delivery methodologies.
* Support portfolio prioritization, project intake, engineering resource planning, and investment decisions.
* Align initiatives with product strategy, customer requirements, and business priorities.
Stakeholder Management
* Partner with Engineering, Product, Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, IT, and business leadership.
* Serve as a central point of coordination between technical teams, suppliers, business sponsors, and other stakeholders.
* Facilitate design reviews, technical workshops, planning sessions, engineering change discussions, and cross-functional meetings.
* Communicate project progress, design decisions, technical risks, and mitigation plans to stakeholders and leadership.
* Build effective relationships with technology vendors, development partners, and geographically distributed engineering teams.
Risk, Problem Solving & Quality
* Identify, assess, and manage technical risks, design challenges, resource constraints, and dependencies.
* Drive mitigation and escalation when required.
* Resolve issues through structured problem solving, root-cause analysis, and data-driven decisions.
* Maintain focus on product quality, regulatory requirements, design integrity, and customer requirements.
Process & Change Management
* Improve engineering processes, product workflows, project delivery, and cross-functional collaboration.
* Support implementation of engineering systems, PLM/PDM platforms, design tools, and governance practices.
* Drive adoption through communication, training, and change management.
* Capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.
* Improve engineering productivity, design quality, configuration management, and PLM effectiveness.
Reporting & Business Visibility
* Provide project and portfolio reporting to leadership and executives.
* Track milestones, benefits, engineering KPIs, and project success measures.
* Monitor productivity, quality, time-to-market, design efficiency, engineering change management, and delivery effectiveness.
* Support forecasting, budgeting, resource utilization, and capacity planning.
* Maintain required project documentation and PMO governance.
* Provide visibility into the impact of projects on product development, engineering capability, product quality, and business performance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential:
* Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, IT, Project Management, or a related field.
* Relevant project management training or professional development.
* Project management certification such as PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, AgilePM, CSM, or equivalent.
Desirable:
* Advanced degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
* Proven experience leading engineering, product development, NPI, PLM, or engineering transformation projects within technology, manufacturing, industrial, or related environments.
* Strong understanding of engineering processes, product development lifecycles, design controls, ECN/ECR, and systems engineering.
* Experience with engineering systems and tools including CAD, PDM, PLM, requirements management, product configuration, and engineering workflows.
* Experience improving engineering processes, design standardization, product development, engineering data management, or technical transformation.
* Experience leading cross-functional teams across Engineering, Product, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Operations, and IT.
* Strong project planning, budgeting, scheduling, dependency, risk, and issue management experience.
* Experience managing NPD/NPI initiatives from concept through product release or operational deployment.
* Strong stakeholder management, communication, presentation, and influencing skills across technical and executive audiences.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on measurable outcomes.
* Experience with project and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Azure DevOps, Monday.com, Power BI, or similar.
* Formal project management qualification such as PMP, PRINCE2, APMP, AgilePM, or equivalent is desirable.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
* Experience working in a PMO environment.
* Experience with organizational transformation, operational improvement, technology implementation, product development, or customer deployment.
* Experience with portfolio reporting, prioritization, and resource planning.
* Experience working with geographically distributed or global stakeholders.
* Experience in technology, fintech, retail technology, cash management, banking, manufacturing, or related industries.
