We are seeking an experienced Senior Azure Government CAE Applications Integration Engineer to support the installation, integration, deployment, and ongoing operation of engineering applications within the Ford Defense Azure Government environment.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience supporting Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) applications, Microsoft Azure infrastructure, hosted Windows desktop environments, and software licensing systems. This role involves working closely with engineering teams, enterprise technology groups, application vendors, ISI, and external service providers to ensure engineering applications are securely deployed, properly licensed, integrated, and operationally supported.
Install, configure, deploy, and support CAE applications, including MATLAB, Simulink, ANSA, LS-DYNA, and LS-PREPOST.
Coordinate the onboarding of engineering applications into Windows 365, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), or comparable hosted Windows desktop environments.
Gather and document application requirements, including software binaries, infrastructure dependencies, user populations, licensing models, authentication, and installation sequences.
Evaluate vendor infrastructure requirements and translate them into implementable technical deployment designs.
Identify and coordinate additional infrastructure requirements, including license servers, databases, integrations, high-performance computing (HPC), and specialized virtual machines.
Support application testing, user acceptance validation, troubleshooting, and transition to steady-state operations.
Maintain and support Microsoft Azure infrastructure, including virtual machines, storage, identity and access management, monitoring, backups, and cost management.
Manage floating and concurrent software licensing, license servers, software SKUs, entitlements, renewals, capacity, and usage reporting.
Monitor license consumption, forecast future demand, and proactively coordinate capacity increases.
Reconcile Azure Government charges across subscriptions, applications, environments, and users.
Prepare recurring cloud cost reports, billing extracts, consumption analyses, and financial forecasts.
Investigate unexpected cloud usage, billing discrepancies, and cost variances in collaboration with cloud, finance, billing, and infrastructure teams.
Participate in application onboarding, solution architecture reviews, security assessments, and change-management processes.
Document current-state and target-state architectures, application dependencies, data flows, interfaces, and operational ownership.
Support integration between CAE applications, 3DEXPERIENCE, requirements-management platforms, and data-transfer capabilities.
Coordinate multiple application integration initiatives while ensuring security, reliability, performance, and operational readiness.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
7+ years of experience installing, configuring, and supporting CAE applications.
Hands-on experience with one or more engineering applications, such as MATLAB, Simulink, ANSA, LS-DYNA, or LS-PREPOST.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure infrastructure and operations, including virtual machines, storage, identity, monitoring, backups, and cost management.
Experience supporting Windows-based virtual desktop applications, such as Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows 365, or comparable hosted desktop environments.
Understanding of floating or concurrent software licensing models and license-server technologies.
Experience managing application licenses, software SKUs, capacity, renewals, and usage reporting.
Ability to interpret vendor requirements and translate them into practical technical designs.
Previous experience supporting government aerospace, defense, or related engineering technology environments.
Ability to coordinate with engineering teams, technology stakeholders, application vendors, and infrastructure providers.
Master's degree or Ph.D. in a relevant engineering or technical discipline.
Experience with Azure Government, GCC High, or other regulated government cloud environments.
Hands-on experience deploying or supporting Azure Virtual Desktop or Windows 365.
Experience supporting US government, military, aerospace, or defense-related technology programs.
Familiarity with cloud financial management, billing reconciliation, chargeback, cost allocation, and consumption forecasting.
Knowledge of identity and access management (IAM), authentication, authorization, and security controls.
Experience integrating engineering applications with 3DEXPERIENCE, requirements-management platforms, databases, HPC environments, or enterprise systems.
Familiarity with architecture reviews, security assessments, application onboarding, and formal change-management processes.
Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
