Summary

Required Skill and Experience

Hands-on administration experience with IBM Db2 for z/OS (v12 or v13) in production environments.

Deep proficiency with Db2 utilities (REORG, RUNSTATS, COPY/RECOVER, LOAD/UNLOAD, CHECK), DDL, and package/plan bind/rebind. Expert level experience with IBM OMEGAMON for Db2 Performance Expert and related monitoring/reporting.

Proficient with IBM Db2 Utilities Suite automation and/or IBM Db2 Utilities Management tools.

Expert performance tuning skills: buffer pool sizing/thresholds, statistics strategy, access path analysis (EXPLAIN), and concurrency/locking diagnostics.

Strong experience working knowledge of z/OS operations (TSO/ISPF, SDSF, JCL, JES2/3) and dataset management.

In depth understanding of data sharing/Parallel Sysplex fundamentals and group buffer pool concepts.

Solid experience with mainframe security (RACF) and least-privilege access models.

In depth understanding of Db2 data sharing tuning (GBP sizing, castout, locking) and disaster recovery strategies.

Strong communication and documentation skills; ability to partner with developers and operations teams.

Preferred Skill and Experience

Advanced scripting/automation skills (REXX, Python on z/OS USS where applicable); experience with z/OSMF and Ansible for z/OS is a plus.

Experience in regulated industries (banking/finance/healthcare) and with ITSM platforms (ServiceNow) is good to have.
