Shift: 1st Shift, Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM (Overtime Available)
Pay Rate: $35/hourPosition Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and continuous operation of HVAC testing equipment, laboratory systems, and facility infrastructure. This hands-on role requires strong electrical and mechanical expertise to ensure testing operations remain safe, reliable, and efficient.
Key Responsibilities
Lab Equipment & Facility Maintenance
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on HVAC test rigs and laboratory infrastructure.
- Maintain and repair chillers, air handling units (AHUs), cooling towers, pumps, compressors, and piping systems.
- Ensure reliable operation of critical utilities including chilled water, hot water, and compressed air systems.
- Respond quickly to equipment failures and restore operations with minimal disruption to testing schedules.
Electrical & Mechanical Systems
- Troubleshoot electrical panels, PLCs, VFDs, instrumentation, and power distribution systems.
- Support the safe operation of low and medium voltage electrical equipment.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical failures.
- Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and established safety practices.
- Maintain refrigeration circuits, heat exchangers, valves, hydronic systems, and related equipment.
- Support installation, commissioning, and modification of testing equipment and facility systems.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, system diagrams, and P&IDs.
- Troubleshoot and repair switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, protective relays, and associated distribution equipment.
Calibration & Instrumentation Support
- Assist with calibration of RTDs, pressure sensors, flow meters, and electrical instruments.
- Partner with internal teams and vendors to ensure measurement accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain instrumentation required for testing and validation activities.
Laboratory Operations Support
- Work closely with engineers and lab personnel to maintain testing readiness.
- Support testing activities by ensuring stable operating conditions and equipment performance.
- Assist with setup and troubleshooting of data acquisition systems such as LabVIEW, Yokogawa, and related platforms.
Safety & Compliance
- Promote safe work practices and participate in hazard assessments.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards.
- Maintain maintenance records, safety documentation, and equipment history.
- Develop and update standard operating procedures and work instructions for laboratory equipment.
Continuous Improvement & Reliability
- Monitor equipment uptime, maintenance performance, and reliability metrics.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring failures.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and preventive maintenance programs.
Vendor & Team Collaboration
- Coordinate with external vendors for repairs, upgrades, and calibration services.
- Partner with engineering, operations, and laboratory teams to support project schedules and testing requirements.
- Assist with spare parts inventory management and procurement activities.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 8+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, HVAC systems, facility maintenance, or laboratory environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with both electrical and mechanical systems.
- Proven troubleshooting and repair skills in complex industrial equipment.
- Knowledge of maintenance planning, preventive maintenance, and reliability practices.
- Ability to prioritize workload and support critical operational needs.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety standards and procedures.
- Experience maintaining HVAC and facility support systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience supporting HVAC testing laboratories or chiller testing environments.
- Familiarity with AHRI standards and laboratory testing processes.
- Experience with PLCs, SCADA systems, LabVIEW, or Yokogawa platforms.
- Strong understanding of hydronic systems, cooling towers, refrigeration equipment, and industrial utilities.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and technical drawings.
Work Environment
- Hands-on role requiring standing, walking, bending, lifting, and working around active mechanical equipment.
- Exposure to refrigerants, compressed gases, electrical equipment, and varying temperatures.
- Occasional overtime, weekend work, or off-shift support may be required to support critical maintenance activities.
