Location: Chicago, Illinois (Hybrid)
Role Overview
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of web design, responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, page optimization, search engine optimization, and development and testing. The developer will bridge the gap between design and implementation by providing web solutions involving collaboration, portals, enterprise search, mobile functionality, and interactive forms. This role operates in an Agile/Scrum delivery model within a complex and dynamic hardware and software environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design enterprise integration solutions leveraging APIs, middleware, event-driven architectures, and cloud-native services.
- Architect data flows and integrations between contact center platforms, workforce management systems, HR applications, reporting tools, data warehouses, and analytics platforms.
- Lead cloud migration and modernization initiatives for operational applications and reporting platforms.
- Develop web applications and sites that engage and retain visitors.
- Provide guidance on industry best practices, guidelines, and governance for web applications and websites.
- Manage requirements for cross-browser compatibility and page optimization.
- Develop applications and sites to include social media and mobile functionality.
- Work with Quality Assurance to ensure the end product is delivered with quality outcomes.
- Perform benefit analysis for IT solutions and make recommendations for technology direction.
- Articulate ideas and demonstrate a willingness to bring new ideas to the forefront.
- Maintain knowledge of industry trends and developments.
- Stay apprised of the latest technologies and innovations in web application technologies.
- Supervise and direct staff as assigned and participate in recruiting and staff performance reviews as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
Experience: Senior Level with greater than 8 years of experience.
Technical Skills:- Mastery of modern web technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and JS frameworks (jQuery, ember.js, angular.js, Foundation, Bootstrap), JSON, Adobe Photoshop, and other graphic editing tools.
- Expertise in responsive web design, fluid layouts, positioning, and mobile interfaces.
- Proficiency with browser behavior, compatibility, cross-browser issues, solutions, and testing.
- Knowledge of SEO concepts and coding for Search Engine Optimization.
- Knowledge of coding REST APIs, AJAX, XML (XSD, XSL, XPATH), and Template Engines and MVC Frameworks.
- Experience creating CSS3 Animations.
- Knowledge of source control concepts and ability to commit code to repositories such as Git, SVN, or TFS.
- Rapid Prototyping Skills with the ability to demonstrate/pitch website design/functionality to a client.
- Creating and executing unit tests using established unit test framework.
- Advanced skills in object-oriented coding and scripting in languages such as Java, .net/C#, PHP, or Ruby.
- Skills in relational database modeling and creating advanced SQL queries/procedures.
- Ability to create in-house JavaScript libraries of reusable components.
- Ability to set up, configure, and host websites with IIS and Apache.
Work Environment
This position is a hybrid role based in Chicago, IL, with Houston, TX as a possible alternate location. Fully remote candidates will not be considered. Travel may be required once or twice a year if needed.
