Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid – 2–3 Days/Week Onsite)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Python Developer with strong Apache Flink expertise to design, develop, and optimize real-time stream processing applications for enterprise-scale data platforms. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building scalable streaming solutions using Apache Flink as the primary technology, along with strong Python development skills. This role involves developing high-performance, event-driven data pipelines and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver real-time analytics solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable real-time data processing applications using Apache Flink.
Build and optimize streaming data pipelines using Python.
Develop event-driven applications capable of processing high-volume, low-latency data streams.
Integrate Flink applications with messaging platforms such as Apache Kafka and other distributed systems.
Optimize Flink jobs for performance, scalability, fault tolerance, and reliability.
Develop reusable components, libraries, and frameworks to support streaming applications.
Collaborate with data engineers, software developers, and business stakeholders to deliver business-critical streaming solutions.
Troubleshoot production issues and implement performance improvements.
Participate in code reviews, testing, and CI/CD deployment activities.
Create and maintain technical documentation for streaming applications and workflows.

Required Qualifications

8+ years of software development experience.
3+ years of hands-on experience with Apache Flink (Required).
Strong proficiency in Python programming.
Experience building real-time stream processing applications using Apache Flink.
Solid understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
Experience with Apache Kafka or similar messaging platforms.
Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational and NoSQL databases.
Experience with Git and Agile development methodologies.
Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
Experience with CI/CD tools and DevOps practices.
Knowledge of Spark, Hadoop, or other big data technologies is a plus.
Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
