Position Summary
\n
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment throughout the New IBC Blow Molding and Reconditioning operations. This position plays a critical role in minimizing equipment downtime, maximizing production efficiency, and ensuring the safe and reliable operation of all plant equipment. The Maintenance Technician is expected to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated systems while maintaining compliance with all company safety policies and regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance
\n
\n - Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production equipment according to established maintenance schedules.
\n - Diagnose equipment malfunctions using technical manuals, electrical schematics, PLC software, and diagnostic testing instruments.
\n - Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and vacuum conveying systems.
\n - Repair and maintain extrusion blow molding machines, grinders, conveyors, palletizers, leak testers, trimming equipment, and associated auxiliary equipment.
\n - Replace worn or defective components including motors, bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes, pumps, valves, sensors, switches, cylinders, and drives.
\n - Install, align, adjust, and calibrate new or existing production equipment.
\n - Perform emergency repairs to minimize production downtime.
\n
\n
Electrical & Automation
\n
\n - Troubleshoot electrical control systems, motor controls, VFDs, and PLC-controlled equipment.
\n - Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and equipment manuals.
\n - Diagnose and repair control circuits, relays, sensors, photo eyes, proximity switches, HMI interfaces, and emergency stop circuits.
\n - Assist with PLC troubleshooting and minor programming modifications (Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens preferred).
\n - Install and troubleshoot machine wiring and electrical components while following NFPA 70E electrical safety standards.
\n
\n
Mechanical Systems
\n
\n - Repair and maintain gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, compressors, blowers, fans, chain drives, sprockets, bearings, couplings, and mechanical assemblies.
\n - Perform precision alignment of motors and rotating equipment.
\n - Lubricate machinery and replace mechanical wear components before failure occurs.
\n - Perform minor machining, fabrication, cutting, drilling, and welding as necessary.
\n
\n
Hydraulic & Pneumatic Systems
\n
\n - Troubleshoot hydraulic cylinders, pumps, valves, manifolds, hoses, and pressure systems.
\n - Maintain pneumatic systems including regulators, solenoids, air cylinders, air dryers, compressors, and valves.
\n - Identify leaks and ensure systems are operating efficiently.
\n
\n
Facility Maintenance
\n
\n - Perform routine facility maintenance including: \n
\n - Plumbing repairs
\n - Lighting replacement
\n - Door and lock repair/replacement
\n - Wall and floor repairs
\n - HVAC assistance
\n - General building maintenance
\n - Compressed air system maintenance
\n - Water system maintenance
\n
\n - Maintain housekeeping in maintenance areas, shops, and workspaces.
\n
\n
Preventative Maintenance
\n
\n - Conduct routine equipment inspections to identify potential failures before they occur.
\n - Complete preventative maintenance work orders on schedule.
\n - Maintain lubrication schedules for all assigned equipment.
\n - Recommend improvements to increase equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
\n - Assist in root cause analysis for repetitive equipment failures.
\n

Documentation
\n
\n - Accurately document maintenance activities using Shop Logix, maintenance logs, work orders, and downtime reporting systems.
\n - Record parts used, repairs completed, labor hours, and equipment history.
\n - Submit Purchase Requests for replacement parts, supplies, and maintenance materials.
\n - Maintain organized maintenance records and equipment documentation.
\n
\n
Safety & Compliance
\n
\n - Strictly follow all Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
\n - Follow OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E electrical safety standards, and all company safety policies.
\n - Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
\n - Participate in safety meetings, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
\n - Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
\n - Report unsafe conditions immediately.
\n
\n
Continuous Improvement
\n
\n - Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S, TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
\n - Assist engineering and production teams during equipment installations, upgrades, and process improvements.
\n - Participate in equipment reliability projects and process optimization efforts.
\n - Cross-train with other maintenance technicians to support plant operations.
\n
\n
Other Duties
\n
\n - Respond to maintenance calls during production shifts as required.
\n - Assist production personnel with machine startups and changeovers.
\n - Train operators on basic equipment care and preventative maintenance practices.
\n - Perform other duties as assigned.
\n
\n
Required Qualifications Education
\n
\n - High School Diploma or GED required.
\n - Technical, vocational, or trade school certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology, or related field preferred.
\n
\n
Experience
\n
\n - Two to five (2 5) years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing, packaging, plastics, or distribution environment preferred.
\n - Experience working with extrusion blow molding equipment is highly desirable.
\n - Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment preferred.
\n
\n
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
\n
\n - Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
\n - Strong electrical troubleshooting skills.
\n - Ability to read blueprints, electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and pneumatic prints.
\n - Knowledge of industrial electrical systems (120V 480V).
\n - Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment (Allen-Bradley, Siemens preferred).
\n - Understanding of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), motor controls, sensors, and automation systems.
\n - Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, vacuum, and compressed air systems.
\n - Basic welding and fabrication experience (MIG, TIG, Stick preferred).
\n - Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, welders, cutting torches, grinders, and diagnostic equipment.
\n - Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
\n - Strong communication and teamwork skills.
\n - Ability to prioritize multiple repairs in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
\n - Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
\n

Physical Requirements

The employee must be able to:

\n - Frequently stand and walk for extended periods.
\n - Frequently bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb ladders, and work in elevated areas.
\n - Lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and heavier items with assistance.
\n - Work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, and manufacturing environments.
\n - Work around moving mechanical equipment while following all required safety procedures.
\n - Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
\n - Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, hard hats, steel-toed footwear, respirators, and arc flash protection as required.

Working Conditions
\n
This position is performed primarily in an industrial manufacturing environment. The employee will be exposed to moving machinery, forklifts, overhead cranes, elevated work platforms, varying temperatures, dust, noise, oils, lubricants, and chemicals commonly associated with plastics manufacturing and industrial maintenance. Overtime, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-ins may be required to support production demands.
