Every day, hundreds of millions of people interact with Apple devices through seamless physical and biometric interfaces. Touch redefined mobile interaction, Touch ID made security intuitive and frictionless, and our next generation of sensing hardware continues to elevate how people connect with technology. The world continues to demand innovation and Apple is stepping up to find robust and creative ways to meet the demand; we are interested in people willing to meet that commitment. The success we are striving for will be the result of very skilled people working in an environment which cultivates creativity, partnership, and thinking of old problems in new ways. If that sounds like the kind of environment that you find intriguing, then let's talk. These elements come together to make Apple an amazing environment for motivated people to do the greatest work of their lives. You will become part of a team that sets the standard in fostering excellence, creativity and innovation. Will you help us design the next generation of revolutionary Apple products?
The Sensing Product Design team is looking for a driven, detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to own the end-to-end design, integration, and validation of mission-critical sensing modules across Apple's product lineup. In this role, you sit at the intersection of mechanical design, advanced materials, precision packaging, and high-volume manufacturing. You will champion your module from early architectural conception through mass production-turning complex electromechanical challenges into elegant, reliable hardware. If you thrive on deep technical problem-solving, structured experimentation, and seeing your work scale into the hands of millions, let's build what's next together.
Description
In this role, you will be responsible for specifying, developing, characterizing, and validating touch sensing systems. You will own the end-to-end design, development, and validation of sensing technology into Apple's portfolio of products. You will work with a talented multifunctional team to generate design concepts. As the mechanical expert, you will be responsible for the engineering analysis and documentation for your piece of the project. At the end of the extraordinary team effort, your work will be in the hands of millions of people making a visible difference in their daily lives.
Minimum Qualifications
Hands-on experience in mechanical design, failure analysis, or product validation.
Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and drafting 2D technical drawings (GD&T).
Strong track record of applying structured root-cause methodologies and experimental design (DOE) to resolve complex electromechanical issues.
Ability and willingness to travel internationally (5%-10%) to support vendor bring-up and factory builds.
Minimum requirement of a bachelor's degree
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in statistical analysis in MATLAB or JMP is preferred but not required.
