We are seeking an experienced Tech Lead – AI / Software Engineering to lead software development teams responsible for building, integrating, and operationalizing AI-driven solutions. The Tech Lead will provide technical leadership across architecture, application development, system integration, testing, deployment, and production operations while working closely with business stakeholders, Solution Architects, engineering teams, and senior leadership.
The role will support AI and data-driven initiatives, including Delay Propagation Engine (DPE) Integrations and AI for Crew Negotiations, with a strong focus on delivering scalable, reliable, maintainable, and production-ready solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of software developers in the planning, development, delivery, and operation of highly reliable software applications.
- Provide technical leadership and ensure the quality, scalability, maintainability, and performance of software solutions.
- Partner with Solution Architects and shared-services teams to create, review, and approve application designs.
- Provide accurate development estimates and support project feasibility and planning activities.
- Design, develop, review, and maintain high-quality software using modern engineering practices.
- Develop and execute unit, functional, and integration testing with an emphasis on automation and test-driven development.
- Provide technical oversight for performance testing and ensure solutions meet defined non-functional requirements.
- Plan and oversee application deployments across non-production and production environments.
- Identify opportunities to leverage emerging technologies, particularly AI, data, cloud, and analytics technologies, to improve business and engineering outcomes.
- Identify and address technical debt while balancing development effort with business value.
- Mentor developers on architecture, design, coding standards, testing, DevOps, and operational practices.
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
- Communicate technical concepts, risks, options, recommendations, and business value to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Influence technical decisions across teams and leadership without direct authority.
- Lead multiple initiatives concurrently while maintaining delivery commitments.
Product / Project Areas
1. DPE Integrations – Delay Propagation Engine
The Tech Lead will be responsible for:
- Integrating DPE insights into existing operational applications and workflows.
- Supporting system integrations and data orchestration.
- Enabling user-facing decision-support capabilities.
- Collaborating with operational and business stakeholders.
- Scaling AI-driven capabilities toward production-ready solutions.
- Ensuring reliability, performance, maintainability, and operational readiness.
2. AI for Crew Negotiations
This initiative provides negotiators and Crew Analytics teams with self-service, natural-language access to governed crew and operational data.
The Tech Lead will support:
- AI and analytics solution architecture.
- Platform and application integration.
- Data governance and semantic data-layer integration.
- AI/analytics application development and delivery.
- Production readiness and deployment.
- Collaboration with business stakeholders, analytics teams, and platform engineering teams.
- Technologies such as Databricks Genie, AWS Quick Suite, and cloud-based AI/data platforms.
Required Qualifications
- Expert-level experience in software engineering with broad and deep knowledge of software development practices and technologies.
- Strong experience leading software engineering teams.
- Advanced knowledge of at least one programming language and working knowledge of additional programming languages.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, development methodologies, testing, and deployment.
- Experience with cloud technologies, APIs, system integrations, and modern software engineering practices.
- Experience working with AI/ML, data platforms, analytics, or AI-enabled applications is highly preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to communicate technical solutions and their business value to senior leadership and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working in fast-paced, enterprise-level environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent advanced experience.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
