We are seeking an experienced Senior Salesforce Developer to design, build, and maintain Salesforce solutions that support university operations such as admissions, student recruitment, enrollment, and student services. This role will lead the configuration of standard Salesforce features and functionality, development of custom Salesforce solutions, and development of integrations between Salesforce and other enterprise systems. This roll will serve as a technical resource for Salesforce best practices across the institution. The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on development skills with business process analysis and solution design expertise, and the ability to translate business requirements into scalable, well-architected solutions in a higher education environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy custom Salesforce solutions using Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Web Components (LWC), and declarative tools (Flow, Process Builder).
- Configure solutions using standard Salesforce features and functionality (e.g., objects, fields, page layouts, Flow, validation rules, reports/dashboards), evaluating configuration-based approaches before custom development where appropriate.
- Conduct business process analysis with university stakeholders to identify requirements, document current- and future-state workflows, and design effective, scalable Salesforce solutions.
- Build and maintain integrations between Salesforce and other enterprise systems using REST/SOAP APIs, middleware, and other integration technologies.
- Write, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries and data models to support reporting, data migration, and integration needs.
- Collaborate with functional teams (admissions, enrollment management, advancement, student affairs, IT) to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Administer and configure Salesforce org(s), including security models, profiles, permission sets, workflows, and custom objects/fields.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including code reviews, unit testing, deployment planning, and post-release support.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to ensure data integrity and system reliability.
- Maintain technical documentation for custom development, integrations, and system configurations.
- Stay current with Salesforce releases, new features, and best practices, and recommend enhancements to improve university processes.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior developers and administrators as needed.
- Ensure compliance with university data security, privacy, and governance policies, including FERPA where applicable.
- Other duties as assigned.
