Position SummaryWe are seeking a
Manager, Software Development, to lead the evolution of Bentley's Civil Engineering software portfolio. In this role, you will manage a globally distributed team of developers and oversee day-to-day operations, driving technical excellence, organizational transformation, and strategic impact. You will collaborate closely with senior leadership to implement processes, guide engineering investment decisions, and deliver high-quality, reliable solutions.
ResponsibilitiesLead and Inspire- Manage, mentor, and develop a global software engineering team.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration.
- Drive delivery of highly available, scalable, and performant cloud services.
Drive Transformation- Champion the transition to an Empowered Teams organizational model.
- Promote modern engineering practices, tools, and workflows to improve productivity and quality.
Own Delivery Excellence- Ensure high standards for code quality, maintainability, testing, and overall product stability.
- Oversee release readiness, defect management, and continuous improvement of engineering processes.
Strategic Decision-Making- Use data, telemetry, customer feedback, and engineering insight to:
- Guide product strategies
- Prioritize engineering investments
- Optimize development efficiency and team focus
Collaborate Across Functions- Partner with Product Management, UX, Quality Engineering, and leadership to align on product strategy and delivery goals.
- Support cross-functional coordination to ensure the success of major initiatives.
Build Talent- Recruit, coach, and develop high-performing engineering talent.
- Encourage continuous learning, skill development, and technical growth within the team.
QualificationsRequired- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent industry experience with 3+ years of technical experience.
- Proven leadership experience managing globally distributed software teams with 2+ years of experience.
- Strong communication, strategic thinking, and collaborative leadership skills.
- High intellectual curiosity and adaptability to evolving tools, technologies, and industry trends.
- A coaching-oriented mindset with a passion for team and individual development.
- This role requires minimal travel.
- Requires sitting or standing at will while performing work on a computer (or any other physical requirements).
