About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer with deep AWS expertise to help design, implement, operate, and continuously improve the foundational cloud services that enable secure, scalable, and reliable application delivery across a large enterprise environment.
This role focuses on engineering and supporting core AWS platform capabilities, including networking, identity and access management, governance, automation, observability, and shared cloud services. You will partner with Architecture, Security, Platform Engineering, Operations, and Application Development teams to deliver reusable platform solutions that accelerate cloud adoption while maintaining security, compliance, and operational excellence.
The ideal candidate brings a platform engineering mindset and is passionate about building self-service capabilities, automating operational processes, and enabling development teams to efficiently deploy and manage cloud workloads. This individual contributor role plays a key part in shaping and maintaining cloud foundations while staying current on emerging cloud technologies and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Engineering & Cloud Services
- Design, implement, and support foundational AWS platform services across the enterprise.
- Build and maintain AWS account structures, landing zones, governance mechanisms, and resource organization standards.
- Engineer and support cloud platform capabilities including:
- Networking
- Identity and access management
- Security controls
- Governance and policy enforcement
- Observability and monitoring
- Shared platform services
- Develop and maintain reusable Infrastructure-as-Code solutions utilizing Terraform and automation frameworks.
- Support cloud platform modernization initiatives and evaluate emerging AWS services for enterprise adoption.
Networking & Connectivity
- Design and support AWS networking services including:
- VPCs
- Transit Gateway
- Route 53
- Private connectivity solutions
- DNS services
- Routing and segmentation
- Support hybrid cloud connectivity and integration with on-premises environments.
- Partner with networking and infrastructure teams to ensure scalable and reliable connectivity designs.
Security & Governance
- Implement and maintain AWS identity and access management solutions using modern authentication, authorization, and governance practices.
- Partner with Architecture and Security teams to implement enterprise cloud standards and reference architectures.
- Ensure cloud services align with organizational security, compliance, and governance requirements.
Operations & Reliability
- Troubleshoot complex cloud platform issues involving networking, identity, security, automation, and infrastructure services.
- Contribute to monitoring, logging, alerting, and operational readiness capabilities.
- Partner with Operations teams to perform root cause analysis and improve platform reliability, resiliency, and supportability.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, implementation standards, architecture patterns, and operational runbooks.
Developer Enablement
- Support application and engineering teams in leveraging AWS services securely, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
- Enable self-service cloud consumption through automation, reusable patterns, and standardized platform capabilities.
- Translate architectural requirements into operationally sound platform implementations.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, or related technology disciplines.
- Strong hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and cloud platform operations.
- Experience designing and supporting AWS networking solutions, including:
- VPCs
- Transit Gateway
- DNS services
- Private connectivity
- Security controls
- Network segmentation
- Experience implementing and managing AWS identity, access management, and governance solutions.
- Strong experience developing and maintaining Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using Terraform.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting experience across cloud and on-premises environments.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, and Git-based development workflows.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Kubernetes, container platforms, and cloud-native technologies.
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise cloud environments.
- Familiarity with platform engineering and self-service operating models.
- Knowledge of cloud governance, compliance, and security best practices.
- Experience evaluating and implementing emerging cloud services and platform capabilities.
