Role Overview
The Senior SAP BusinessObjects Developer / Platform Administrator is responsible for the design, development, deployment, and optimization of enterprise reporting solutions and universes while providing secondary platform administration support. This role involves a split of responsibilities between hands-on BI development and co-administration of the platform. The individual will work with Product Owners, Data Engineers, Architects, and Scrum/Kanban teams to ensure alignment with platform performance standards, security requirements, and architectural designs.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, deploy, and optimize enterprise reporting solutions and universes.
- Perform BI development using WebI and Crystal Reports, including semantic layer data modeling and performance tuning.
- Co-administer the SAP BusinessObjects platform, including Central Management Server configuration, RBAC/folder security, cost/resource optimization, and upgrades.
- Develop advanced semantic layers using both Information Design Tool (IDT for .unx) and Universe Design Tool (UDT for .unv).
- Write complex analytical queries, perform data transformation, and conduct report performance tuning and query profiling using advanced SQL.
- Utilize Python, PowerShell, or shell scripting to automate database administration, BO SDK workflows, or report scheduling.
- Manage IAM roles, security policies, and connect BusinessObjects environments to cloud-based data warehouses within an AWS environment.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of overall technical experience as a BI/ETL Developer.
- 2+ years of SAP BusinessObjects Administration experience.
- Strong experience in SAP BusinessObjects Platform Administration and Development, including BI Launch Pad management, complex RBAC/security profile design, and semantic layer management.
- Deep understanding of SAP BusinessObjects architecture (Central Management Server, Input/Output File Repository Servers, Processing Servers, Connection Server, and Promotion Management).
- Advanced SQL skills for complex analytical queries, data transformation, and performance tuning.
- Demonstrated ability to use Python, PowerShell, or shell scripting for automation.
- Experience with AWS, including managing IAM roles and security policies.
- Candidates must be eligible to obtain & maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with disaster recovery, backup/failover strategies, and version upgrades for SAP BusinessObjects environments.
- Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) experience; certification is preferred.
- Relevant SAP certifications (e.g., SAP Certified Application Associate - SAP BusinessObjects Web Intelligence or BI Platform).
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience using Terraform or automated scripting.
- CLI Linux experience and automation of cloud-native BI architectures.
- FinOps and cost-optimization experience.
- Experience working with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) information systems or claims data.
- Active or prior Public Trust or DoD level clearance.
