Job Description
The Business Analyst for our client will play a key role in delivering capabilities within the Enterprise Data Platform and Core Data Services. This role partners with business and technology stakeholders to define and refine requirements for reporting and analytics, source system changes, and new data integrations—ensuring data is trustworthy, well-governed, and usable across the enterprise.
Working as part of an Agile delivery team, the analyst will translate needs into clear user stories and acceptance criteria, help maintain and prioritize the backlog in alignment with value stream priorities, and proactively manage dependencies and release scheduling to enable predictable delivery.
Experience in the residential or commercial mortgage industry is an added advantage, enabling deeper understanding of the Customer's domain, data, and business processes.
Roles & Responsibilities
Responsibilities & Duties
• Elicit, analyze, and document requirements for enterprise reporting and analytics, including KPI definitions, metric logic, dimensionality, refresh cadence, and security/access needs.
• Partner with Product Owners, Data Engineers, and Architects to shape requirements for Core Data Services (e.g., curated datasets, data products, shared semantic/metrics layers, reference/master data, and data APIs).
• Gather and document requirements for source system changes and new source system integrations, including data profiling, field-level mappings, transformation rules, and validation/reconciliation approaches.
• Create and maintain artifacts such as user stories, epics, acceptance criteria, process flows, data dictionaries, mapping specifications, and test scenarios to support development and QA.
• Collaborate daily with an Agile team; support backlog grooming/refinement, estimation readiness, and definition of done.
• Maintain and communicate backlog priorities and sequencing across multiple value streams; identify, track, and manage cross-team dependencies, risks, and assumptions.
• Support release planning by coordinating readiness, data cutovers, and deployment schedules; help ensure clear go/no-go criteria and post-release validation plans.
• Coordinate stakeholder communications, demos, and feedback loops to ensure delivered solutions meet business outcomes and data quality expectations.
• Support data governance practices by promoting consistent definitions, lineage awareness, stewardship engagement, and adherence to privacy/security requirements.
• Define and document data governance and security requirements (e.g., classification, access controls/role-based security, privacy constraints, retention, auditability) and ensure they are incorporated into user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Continuously identify opportunities to streamline requirements, improve data quality, and enhance self-service analytics and operational reporting.
Required Experience, Skills, & Competencies
• 12+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Product Analyst, or similar role delivering data/analytics, integration, or platform capabilities.
• Experience gathering requirements for enterprise reporting/analytics and translating them into user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
• Demonstrated experience with data integration concepts including source-to-target mapping, transformations, data quality checks, and reconciliation/controls.
• Working knowledge of data warehouse/lakehouse concepts, dimensional modeling, and/or semantic/metrics layers; familiarity with data product thinking is a plus.
• Strong SQL skills for data exploration and validation; experience with Power BI (or similar BI tool) for understanding report requirements and testing outputs.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, including backlog refinement, prioritization, dependency management, and release planning.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills; ability to communicate complex data topics clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Understanding of data governance, privacy/security, and quality practices (definitions, lineage, stewardship, access controls).
• Experience eliciting and documenting data governance and security requirements, including role-based access, data classification, privacy controls, and audit/reconciliation expectations.
