1. Role Summary
The Tableau Administrator is responsible for administering, supporting, securing, optimizing, and maintaining an enterprise Tableau environment. The role manages Tableau Server/Cloud, users, groups, licenses, permissions, data connections, refresh schedules, deployments, monitoring, troubleshooting, and platform performance while partnering with business, data, infrastructure, security, and technology teams.
2. Key Responsibilities
· Administer and support Tableau Server / Tableau Cloud environments.
· Manage users, groups, licenses, roles, permissions, and access controls.
· Configure and maintain Tableau projects, sites, workbooks, data sources, and extracts.
· Monitor Tableau Server health, performance, capacity, background jobs, and refresh failures.
· Troubleshoot production issues, dashboard failures, connectivity problems, and performance bottlenecks.
· Manage data-source connections, extract refreshes, schedules, and database integrations.
· Support deployment of Tableau workbooks and dashboards across development, QA/UAT, and production.
· Implement security controls including authentication, authorization, permissions, and row-level security where applicable.
· Perform Tableau upgrades, patches, migrations, configuration changes, and environment maintenance.
· Partner with infrastructure, network, storage, database, cybersecurity, and application teams.
· Support analytics-platform migration and modernization initiatives, including cloud adoption.
· Establish monitoring, documentation, operational procedures, and Tableau administration best practices.
· Provide technical support and guidance to Tableau developers, analysts, and business users.
· Optimize Tableau dashboards, workbooks, extracts, and data sources for scalability and performance.
· Participate in incident management, root-cause analysis, defect resolution, and production support.
· Maintain compliance with enterprise technology, security, risk, and data-governance requirements.

· 5–8+ years of BI/Tableau experience (depending on level)
· 3+ years of hands-on Tableau Server/Cloud administration
· Strong SQL and data-integration skills
· Hands-on user, security, group, and permission administration
· Production support and troubleshooting experience
· Tableau Server upgrades, migrations, and environment management
· Workbook/data-source deployment and lifecycle management
· ETL/data-source management and data-quality awareness
· Dashboard and extract performance optimization
· Power BI or another enterprise BI platform exposure
· Banking, financial services, or another highly regulated enterprise environment is a strong advantage
