Cassandra Database Administrator
Location: Phoenix, AZ – Hybrid

Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Cassandra Database Administrator with strong hands-on expertise in Cassandra and Couchbase
administration, performance optimization, cluster management,
troubleshooting, and large-scale distributed database environments.
The ideal candidate should have strong experience with Cassandra, Couchbase CBQ, nodetool, dsetool, DataStax OpsCenter, Prometheus, and Grafana.
Key Responsibilities
Manage, administer, and optimize large-scale Cassandra and Couchbase clusters.
Perform cluster expansion, capacity planning, performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
Manage Cassandra cluster configuration, node operations, replication, repairs, and data movement.
Work extensively with nodetool and dsetool for Cassandra administration and performance optimization.
Use Couchbase CBQ for querying, administration, and troubleshooting.
Perform database backup and recovery using Cassandra snapshots, CBQ, and DataStax OpsCenter.
Execute SSTable migration and data movement across live Cassandra clusters while minimizing downtime.
Monitor database health and performance using DSE OpsCenter, Prometheus, and Grafana.
Troubleshoot complex database, cluster, performance, and availability issues.
Collaborate
with customers, application teams, and stakeholders to explain database
architecture and recommend scalable solutions.
Support large-scale, multi-instance and multi-tenant server environments with a focus on reliability, scalability, and operational excellence.
Required Skills
Strong hands-on experience with Apache Cassandra Database Administration.
Strong experience with Couchbase and CBQ.
Expert-level knowledge of nodetool and dsetool.
Strong understanding of Cassandra architecture and internals, including:
Experience with cluster expansion, capacity planning, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
Experience with backup/recovery and Cassandra snapshots.
Hands-on experience with SSTable migration and data movement.
Experience with DSE OpsCenter, Prometheus, and Grafana.
Experience managing large-scale distributed, multi-instance, and multi-tenant environments.
Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
Nice to Have
Working knowledge of PostgreSQL.
Hands-on experience with AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform.
Experience designing and supporting highly available, scalable database solutions.
Experience working directly with customers and technical stakeholders.
