Role: Senior Business Systems Analyst – Data Platform Strategy
Location: Richmond, VA
Rate: $60/hour W2
Schedule: Hybrid | 40 hours/week

Position Overview
We are seeking a senior-level Senior Business Systems Analyst – Data Platform Strategy to support enterprise Data Platform Engineering initiatives. This role serves as the strategic bridge between business stakeholders, executive leadership, and technology teams, helping drive platform strategy, governance, portfolio management, and long-term investment planning across enterprise data platforms.
The ideal candidate brings a strong combination of business analysis, technology strategy, stakeholder engagement, and data platform knowledge. They will partner closely with platform owners, architects, engineers, security teams, infrastructure teams, and business leaders to align platform investments with organizational objectives and ensure successful delivery of enterprise data capabilities. This is not a hands-on engineering role. Instead, the focus is on strategic planning, governance, roadmap development, portfolio management, executive communication, and translating business priorities into actionable technology initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Partner with platform leaders, product owners, and business stakeholders to drive platform strategy and technology alignment.
Develop and maintain multi-year platform roadmaps that support business objectives and technology priorities.
Facilitate strategic planning discussions and identify platform capability gaps, risks, dependencies, and investment opportunities.
Establish and support governance processes for demand intake, prioritization, portfolio management, and investment planning.
Evaluate and prioritize platform initiatives while developing business cases and investment recommendations.
Translate business objectives into platform capability requirements and ensure alignment with operational, regulatory, security, and strategic goals.
Collaborate with architecture, engineering, infrastructure, security, and business teams to drive informed decision-making.
Create executive-level presentations, dashboards, KPIs, reports, and governance materials.
Monitor portfolio health, roadmap execution, strategic objectives, and business value realization.
Support platform governance, standards, policies, and best practices alongside Architecture and Engineering teams.
Facilitate governance reviews, risk assessments, compliance activities, and audit support.
Influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders without direct authority to achieve organizational objectives.

Required Qualifications

8+ years of experience in Business Analysis, Technology Strategy, Portfolio Management, Product/Platform Management, Data Analytics, or related disciplines.
Experience supporting enterprise-scale data organizations and large technology transformation initiatives.
Proven ability to facilitate executive-level stakeholder engagement and decision-making processes.
Demonstrated success developing strategic roadmaps, governance frameworks, business cases, and long-term technology plans.
Strong knowledge of portfolio management, demand management, business process analysis, and strategic planning methodologies.
Experience translating business needs into technology and data platform requirements.
Exceptional communication, presentation, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.

Understanding of enterprise data platforms and data ecosystem concepts.
