Position Summary
XMS Solutions is seeking a Senior Automation Developer to design, develop, and support automation solutions across complex Microsoft enterprise environments. The ideal candidate will have advanced experience with PowerShell and Microsoft Graph API, along with strong working knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and hybrid identity environments.
This position will automate identity administration, reporting, system integrations, and operational processes across Microsoft and third-party identity platforms. The successful candidate will be an experienced problem-solver who can independently lead automation efforts, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and translate business needs into secure, scalable solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise automation solutions using PowerShell.
- Build integrations and automated workflows using Microsoft Graph API and Microsoft Graph PowerShell SDK.
- Establish and maintain secure connections between automation solutions and existing SQL databases.
- Integrate automation with existing database tables and data structures without assuming responsibility for database development.
- Automate identity lifecycle processes, including account provisioning and deprovisioning, group management, access assignments, licensing, reporting, and compliance activities.
- Develop automation across Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Azure, and hybrid identity environments.
- Integrate with identity administration and management platforms such as Cayosoft Administrator and Quest Active Roles.
- Design and support automation involving Entra ID Connect, domain controllers, multi-domain environments, and multi-forest environments.
- Use REST APIs, Microsoft Graph, LDAP, and database connections to exchange and manage data across enterprise systems.
- Analyze existing processes and platforms to identify technical, operational, and automation opportunities.
- Gather requirements from technical and business stakeholders and translate them into reliable automation solutions.
- Troubleshoot scripts, APIs, authentication processes, database connections, scheduled tasks, system integrations, and production failures.
- Diagnose issues using event logs, error codes, API responses, application logs, and existing system data.
- Implement appropriate logging, exception handling, monitoring, alerting, auditing, and recovery capabilities.
- Apply secure development practices, including least-privilege access, credential protection, managed identities, certificate-based authentication, and role-based access control.
- Develop reusable PowerShell modules, functions, templates, and automation standards.
- Create and maintain solution designs, technical standards, data mappings, process documentation, operating procedures, and support guides.
- Independently manage automation initiatives while collaborating with architecture, engineering, security, database, and operations teams.
- Evaluate and master new software platforms, APIs, frameworks, and automation technologies.
Required Education and Experience
- Significant professional experience developing and supporting enterprise automation solutions.
- Advanced PowerShell scripting and module-development experience.
- Experience using Microsoft Graph API to automate Microsoft 365 and Entra ID functions.
- Knowledge of SQL administration, including familiarity with table structures and an understanding of database indexes.
- Experience establishing connections to existing SQL databases and integrating automation with existing data.
- Experience integrating systems through REST APIs, JSON, OAuth 2.0, and other modern authentication methods.
- Strong working knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Azure, and Windows Server.
- Experience working with on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
- Working knowledge of domain controllers, DNS, networking fundamentals, network security zones, and tiered security models.
- Experience automating or supporting multi-domain, multi-forest, and hybrid identity environments.
- Ability to construct and troubleshoot LDAP queries.
- Ability to troubleshoot Windows event logs, error codes, authentication failures, and common software-configuration issues.
- Experience developing secure, scalable, supportable, and well-documented production solutions.
- Ability to independently manage technical initiatives throughout the full development lifecycle.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience explaining technical challenges and solutions to customers, peers, business leaders, and senior management.

- Experience with Azure Automation, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, or similar automation platforms.
- Experience with Entra ID Connect configuration, synchronization, and troubleshooting.
