The primary purpose of these positions is to serve as an engineer in AFNWC at Hill Air Force Base, Utah. Engineers in AFNWC solve highly-complex problems and take part in a variety of projects to promote national security through nuclear deterrence. They decide what needs to be done, make sure it happens, and solve the most complex, high-risk aspects of the Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) program.
The AFNWC Minuteman III Systems Division manages the current ICBM technical life extension program and integrated life-cycle activities, including equipment spares, storage and transportation, modifications, equipment replacement, etc., to ensure that the ground-based leg of America's nuclear triad is "Never Doubted - Always Feared."
The AFNWC Sentinel Systems Division manages a major defense acquisition program charged to deliver a full system replacement for the nation's Minuteman III system, providing an even stronger strategic deterrent to nuclear attack against the United States. The Sentinel Systems Division faces a challenge that the U.S. has never encountered before - reconstituting a nuclear weapons production capability without nuclear explosive testing.
