Water/Wastewater Operator — FREE Housing + $13K Annual Allowance
Looking for a reason to make a move? What if your housing was covered?
A global leader in infrastructure and environmental services is hiring a licensed Water/Wastewater Operator for a long-term opportunity in a remote Northern Ontario community.
This isn't your typical operator position. In addition to a stable, hands-on role supporting essential municipal water and wastewater infrastructure, you'll receive:
- FREE furnished housing in newly built apartments
- $13,000/year living allowance
- Additional remote-location compensation
- 4 weeks paid vacation
- Pension matching
- Comprehensive medical, dental, vision and life insurance
- Training and opportunities to advance your water/wastewater certifications
The result? You can relocate without taking on the normal cost of housing in a new community—and keep significantly more of your earnings.
The Role
You'll be part of the team responsible for keeping the community's water and wastewater systems operating safely, reliably and efficiently.
This is a hands-on operator role, not a desk job. You'll monitor treatment processes, make adjustments in real time, troubleshoot equipment and help keep the plant running around the clock.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Operating and monitoring municipal water and wastewater treatment systems
- Making real-time process adjustments to maintain plant performance
- Performing sampling, testing and operational checks
- Monitoring and working with SCADA/control systems
- Troubleshooting pumps, valves and other treatment equipment
- Supporting preventative maintenance and equipment repairs
- Maintaining accurate operational and regulatory records
- Ensuring compliance with Ontario regulations and safety requirements
Who We're Looking For
This opportunity is best suited for an operator who is comfortable being hands-on, mechanically inclined and capable of working independently in a high-trust, autonomous environment.
What We Need From You:
- Class 1 or higher dual Water + Wastewater licensing through OWWCO or an equivalent provincial certification
- Experience operating or maintaining water/wastewater treatment systems
- Experience with pumps, valves, mechanical equipment and SCADA
- Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude
- A valid driver's license
- The ability and willingness to relocate to a remote Northern Ontario community
What Makes the Relocation Worth It?
We know relocating to a remote community is a big decision. That's why the package is designed to make the move worthwhile.
Your housing is covered. Your living expenses are supplemented. And you receive additional compensation for working in a remote location.
You'll also have the stability of working for an established industry leader, with opportunities to continue developing your technical skills and advance your operator certifications.
The Reality of the Job
This is a 40-hour/week, in-person position with an on-call rotation.
The work is active and hands-on and may include:
- Weekend and holiday coverage
- Indoor and outdoor work in changing weather conditions
- Walking and standing for much of the day
- Lifting up to 55 lbs / 25 kg
- Ladder use
- Confined-space entry
If you're looking for a comfortable desk job, this probably isn't it.
If you're an experienced operator who doesn't mind getting your hands dirty—and the idea of having your housing covered while earning additional remote-location compensation sounds interesting—this could be a very different kind of career move.
