Factory Support (sustaining) Product Engineer to support the lifecycle of our existing products and systems. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving product issues in the field or in production, implementing design improvements, and coordinating cross-functional efforts to ensure long-term product reliability, quality, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve product related issues identified in production, testing, or in the field for legacy products.
- Manage engineering change orders (ECOs) and documentation updates for existing products.
- Collaborate with quality, manufacturing, and customer support teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Provide technical support for supply chain issues including component obsolescence and sourcing alternatives.
- Analyze field returns, warranty claims, and customer feedback to drive continuous product improvements.
- Participate in product audits, failure analysis, and reliability assessments.
- Support cost-reduction initiatives, regulatory compliance updates, and product refresh projects.
- Maintain and improve documentation such as CAD drawings, schematics, BOMs, and technical specifications.
- Analyze designs and drive changes or modifications.
- Execute approved drawing updates and changes as communicated through our redline/deviation process.
- Independently research solutions, troubleshoot and resolve complex problems by analyzing product data and production processes.
- Perform as liaison between factory floor and central engineering team as required for complex fit/feel and function product changes.
- Support NPI (New Product Introduction) to ensure new products comply with DFMA standards and factory standards.
- Champion shop floor improvement projects such as fixture builds, cart design, etc.
Qualifications:- Associates degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial).
- 2-5 years of experience in sustaining, design, manufacturing, or product support engineering.
- Strong problem-solving skills and experience with root cause analysis (e.g., Lean tools, 8D, FMEA).
- Proficiency in engineering tools (e.g., CAD, PLM systems, testing equipment, version control). Must have Autodesk Inventor experience.
- Strong knowledge of quality tools and methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, DMAIC).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:- Knowledge of GD&T, SPC, or FMEA.
- Lean certification.
- Autodesk Vault experience
- Experience designing / supporting material handling product a strong plus.
