Product Engineering is a unified team responsible for the engineering of Disney Entertainment & ESPN digital and streaming products and platforms. This includes product engineering, media engineering, quality assurance, engineering behind personalization, commerce, lifecycle, and identity.
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Build Tooling Infrastructure team at Disney Entertainment & ESPN Product & Technology (DEEPT), you will design and develop custom tools and maintain mission-critical infrastructure that enables application teams to deliver software quickly and reliably. Our team manages all aspects of CI tooling for DEET, including version control, CI servers, artifact storage, and cross-environment secrets management. We?re seeking a mid-level engineer with a solid foundation in CI/CD processes and tools and a strong desire to grow and learn.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with a team of engineers in a shared development process
Build and maintain pipeline libraries that abstract build, release, and deployment events for use across multiple development organizations
Partner with application development teams to identify needs and implement CI/CD best practices
Support critical deployment systems used organization-wide
Participate in code reviews by providing constructive feedback on pull requests
Join the on-call rotation to support systems and services during production incidents
Author technical proposals and contribute to root cause analyses
Basic Qualifications:
5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 3 years focused on CI/CD or DevOps infrastructure
Extensive hands-on experience administering Jenkins, Vault, Github, etc. and developing complex CI/CD pipelines
Proficiency in writing custom build files using Gradle and/or sbt
Strong understanding of Docker and familiarity with container orchestration platforms such as Amazon ECS or Kubernetes
Solid programming experience in Python, Groovy, or Java
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex systems and resolve issues efficiently
Hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure provisioning using CloudFormation
Strong collaboration skills, including experience working effectively with distributed teams
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Thorough understanding of source control concepts and practical experience with Git
Proven ability to proactively identify and implement improvements in software and tooling
BA/BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with application performance monitoring tools such as New Relic or Datadog
Programming experience with Java or Go
Working knowledge of GitOps principles and workflows

The hiring range for this position in Santa Monica, CA and Glendale, CA is $144,100.00 to $193,200.00 per year and in New York, NY and Seattle, WA is $150,900.00 to $202,400.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate?s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
