Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Analyst focused on Emerging and Disruptive Technologies (EDTs). This role involves contributing to the identification, cataloging, and sustained assessment of EDTs to support warfare development. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to inform strategic foresight, defense planning, and capability development efforts. The ideal candidate will help educate staff on the opportunities and risks associated with EDTs and manage a knowledge base to facilitate information exchange.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the identification of new and cataloging of existing Emerging and Disruptive Technologies (EDTs).
- Contribute to the sustained assessment of EDT implications and adoption opportunities.
- Promote increased experimentation of EDT-based solutions in realistic environments.
- Provide and coordinate input to the programming of EDT activities.
- Influence and exploit EDTs that address identified capability shortfalls.
- Provide and coordinate input for the production and delivery of EDT advice that informs strategic foresight and defense planning.
- Identify capability shortfalls that could benefit from the adoption of EDTs.
- Educate staff on the opportunities and risks associated with EDTs.
- Organize and manage a knowledge base on the current status of EDT adoption.
- Act as a member of the Innovation Branch, executing tasks and duties related to Science and Technology.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's degree from a nationally recognized university in computer science, information and communication technology, or a closely related scientific or engineering discipline is required. A lack of a degree may be compensated by a minimum of six years of extensive and progressive experience related to the function of the post.
Experience: Four years of post-related experience with a degree, or six years without. This must include two years of experience in the acquisition, assembly, and interpretation of research and technology information.
Technical Skills: Practical experience with PC office automation products, including the use of the internet for information research.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Science & Technology (S&T) information sources in nations, such as defense research laboratories, academic institutions, media, and defense ministries.
- Experience in interpreting future S&T and EDT-related information to assess how such technologies may be applied within a military environment.
- Ability to conduct analytical work on EDT documentation, identify adoption pathways, and develop practical examples of application.
- Demonstrated proficiency in English.
