If you're looking to move beyond traditional design and be part of a model that is reshaping the industry-ENFRA is where engineering meets ownership, accountability, and impact.OverviewThe Mechanical Professional Engineer II (PE II) independently applies advanced engineering techniques to design and coordinate mechanical systems for energy and infrastructure projects across hospital and college campuses. This role leads portions of projects, developing code-compliant, constructible designs for HVAC, hydronic, and thermal plant systems while solving complex technical challenges. The PE II collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to integrate designs with existing facilities, supports permitting and procurement, and addresses field conditions. Responsibilities include producing accurate calculations and documentation and delivering systems that meet performance, reliability, and energy efficiency objectives consistent with ENFRA's design-build delivery model.
Responsibilities- Responsible for signing and sealing engineering documents.
- Leads design and analysis of mechanical systems for projects of moderate complexity.
- Develops project deliverables including calculations, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Improves existing systems and supports development of new solutions.
- Prepares detailed system configurations and control schemes with emphasis on long-term energy savings.
- Conducts field investigations and supports site visits. Coordinates and plans 3D laser scanning effort.
- Coordinates with internal disciplines and supports construction-phase activities.
- Performs work with a high degree of latitude.
- Resolves complex technical issues independently.
- Provides informal mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
- Interfaces directly with clients on technical matters.
- May act as task lead or discipline lead on projects.
QualificationsRequired Education, Experience, and Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in architectural engineering, mechanical engineering, or related
- 7+ years of design experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) License.
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical systems and design practices
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary deliverables
- Strong communication and technical writing skills
Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications- Master's degree in engineering
- Experience leading project workstreams
Travel Requirements- 10-25% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.
Physical/Work Environment Requirements- Prolonged periods of office work sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ascending and descending stairs, ladders, ramps, and possibly scaffolding.
- Occasionally completed field survey in loud, peak/low temperatures, and/or elevated locations.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Field survey, including traveling to job sites, to document existing conditions and observe construction progress.
- Light work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects up to 20 pounds.
