Overview

The Mechanical Professional Engineer III (PE III) serves as a senior technical leader responsible for the design, coordination, and delivery of complex mechanical systems for energy and infrastructure projects for hospital and college campuses. This role leads multidisciplinary design efforts, ensuring code-compliant, constructible solutions for HVAC, hydronic, and thermal plant systems. The PE III manages project execution for assigned scopes, mentors junior engineers, and resolves complex technical and field challenges. Responsibilities include overseeing design quality, supporting permitting and procurement, and ensuring systems meet performance, reliability, and energy efficiency objectives aligned with ENFRA's design-build delivery model.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for signing and sealing engineering documents and overseeing technical quality.
• Leads the design and execution of complex mechanical systems and large-scale projects.
• Develops detailed system configurations and control schemes with emphasis on long-term energy savings.
• Establishes engineering approaches, design standards, and best practices.
• Provides technical oversight and review of work performed by junior staff.
• Manages discipline scope, schedules, and budgets on projects.
• Supervises the planning for field investigations and site visits. Reviews plans for 3D laser scanning effort.
• Leads coordination with clients, stakeholders, and external partners.
• Performs work independently with broad authority.
• Resolves highly complex technical and project challenges.
• Actively mentors and develops junior engineers and designers.
• Supports existing client relationships through technical input, proposals, and client engagement.

Qualifications

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in architectural engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field
• 10+ years of design experience
• Professional Engineer (PE) License
• Expert knowledge of mechanical system design and applications
• Strong leadership, project management, and decision-making capabilities
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams
• Advanced communication and client management skills

Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications

• Master's degree in Engineering
• Experience managing large or program-level projects.
• Experience in energy-as-a-service infrastructure delivery models.

Travel Requirements

• 10-25% of time will be spent traveling to job siteS.

Physical/Work Environment Requirements

• Prolonged periods of office work sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Ascending and descending stairs, ladders, ramps, and possibly scaffolding.
• Occasionally completed field survey in loud, peak/low temperatures, and/or elevated locations.
• Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
• Field survey, including traveling to job sites, to document existing conditions and observe construction progress.
• Light work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects up to 20 pounds.

Pay Range

USD $134,430.00 - USD $201,922.00 /Yr.
